When everyone is ready, minimise zoom and click on Shark Bridge Tim is Heron 75. If you have difficulty at this stage I will help you.

At the login enter the name by which you wish to be known, usually your first name,, Unless you already have a partner leave  this box blank, then press continue. This will take you into the lobby of the Shark website where you will see the notice waiting to be seated. Be patient and wait until everyone is there.

To register complete the form at the right hand side of this page. Remember to email Margaret Moffat and copy to me when you register. You will be sent instructions on how to pay. You will also need to renew your subscription to your local U3A

20 Lesson Course

The 20 Lesson Course Outline

Term 1: Lessons 1-4 will be on minibridge covering basic card play (Lessons 5-20 will follow  the SBU 20 lesson course

 Lessons 5-10: Covers elementary card play, scoring & bidding up to game based on high card points & suit fits.

1. Introduction to Bridge. Bridge is a trick taking game. Introducing card play in no trumps and with a trump suit. Initial bidding using a simple crib sheet. Basic understanding of scoring.

Full lesson materials for lessons 5 onwards will appear on the members only section of the website

5 New Suit Bids by Responder & Opener’s Rebids after an Unlimited Response. Which suit to bid? Rule of 14. Opener’s Rebid options after change of suit response.

6. Opener’s Suit Rebids with minimum and strong hands. Responder’s Rebids.

7. Balanced Hands. Bidding No Trumps – Bidding Stayman & Responses to Stayman. Looking for major suit fits. Rule of 11

8. Balanced Hands. Bidding No Trumps. – Transfer bidding. Invitational and game response bids when balanced. Looking for major suit fits. Using the Rule of 11.

9. Card Play. Second hand plays Low. Third hand plays High. When to cover an honour with an honour. Reverse Attitude Signals.

10. More card play (Defence emphasis) –Defence Partner cooperation, keeping tally on tricks, ducking to establish the work suit, ducking to sever defence communication. The danger hand and how to cope with it

Welcome to our  U3A Online Across Scotland Scotland Bridge web site. We are a group of U3A members from acroos Scotland who wish to learn bridge, improve their bridge or just have fun playing online.

Friday morning timetable

Beginners Log into Shark at 9.30 From  26th Sept

Refreshers Log into Shark 9.30 Starting Nov 1st but refreshers may start playing on Play and learn any time from now until end of  Oct

Play and Learn Log into zoom for 10.00 when there is a lesson. Play on Real Bridge at 10.30  and zoom at 12.00 for review of hands

     Any interested U3A member may join us before then on any Fri . Ask Ann for details

Beginners  for those with no experience of bridge

Refreshers for those with some experience but feel they would benefit from going through the course

 Play and Learn. For more experienced players who wish to continue learning

We ensure all members are comfortable with the technology before they start.

We charge £18 to cover the cost of technology. Details of paying will be sent when you complete the registration form on the right hand column of this page.

There are many opportunities to play both online and face to face throughout the country in addition to social groups

North Aberdeen and surrounding areas and Shetland

West  Glasgow and surrounding area up to Oban

SBU Highland  Including Highlands parts of Moray, Western Isles and Orkney

Highland Club  currently play Wednesday nights online on RealBridge contact Alan Cruden

Inverness Caledonian Club will continue online on Mondays and Thursday and face to face on Wednesdays at 6.50 at Leonardo HotelT Contact Fiona

Inverness Ladies Club Meet on Friday afternoons at the bowling club Contact

Ness Club Are meeting face to face on Mondays and Thursdays. They have an improvers section on Tuesdays and an online tournament on Fridays. Contact Val Skelton They are also now meeting on Monday and Thursday night Face to Face
