Richard Wheen 
  The funeral of Richard Wheen, the founder of the club, took place on Thursday 9th April at 3.00pm at St Mary’s church Buckland. The club was represented by Chris Greenacre and Robin Hoare.

   Buckland Bridge Events  

The current schedule of events is:

 Tuesday & Thursday 

Face-to-face bridge at the Buckland Reading Room, starting at 2.15pm.

 Wednesday 

Online on BBO on Wednesdays starting at 2pm.

 

All Buckland events are EBU affiliated. EBU Master Points will be awarded to the top placed pairs.

A host system is in operation for both the Tuesday & Thursday events. For single players a partner will be found for you on the day.

 
 
 Greensand Trophy 
 
The Greensand Trophy events were held on the 4 Thursdays in May 2026, i.e. 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th May.

 Wednesday Bridge on BBO 
 
The numbers playing the bridge event online on BBO have been very low recently. The current plan is therefore that the club will stop running the event. The last BBO session will be on Wednesday 8th July.
If there are extra numbers on the 8th July we may reconsider. Please use the 'Contact Us' menu option if you would like to play.
Richmond Bridge Club run a Wednesday afternoon event on BBO and have invited us to join them. Any player who would like to play in the Richmond event, please use the 'Contact Us' option.

The Buckland Bridge Club (Archive Information)


Welcome to the Buckland (Surrey) Bridge Club. We are a small, friendly club, designed originally for novices but now catering for more experienced players as well.


We meet on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in the Buckland Reading Room (Village Hall), pictured here.  It is in the Old Road 60 yards from the Buckland village shop.  We play duplicate bridge sessions of 21 boards.  The table money is £3.00, for members and visitors. Please arrive by 2.00pm on both days for play to start at 2.15pm.

We welcome visitors, pairs or single players, but as the club is limited to a maximum of 12 tables, there is the possibility that we cannot accommodate everyone who wishes to play.

Visitors need to be aware of the local regulations that operate at the club. Please check under the Information menu on this page.

We are affiliated to the English Bridge Union (Club no. 418633), and issue Master Points for all our events. The aim of the club is always to try and maintain a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and our Tournament Directors will use their discretion in the interests of achieving this aim.
Hands

The Buckland Bridge Club now uses pre-dealt hands for all duplicate events. Click on your pair names in the ranking list to view the hands and to see how you performed on each board.

PARKING AT BUCKLAND 

Parking in the Old Road has become a problem and a source of annoyance and discontent to the local residents. Surrey Police traffic inspectors have already expressed their concern to the Club. There is ample parking space on the Green. Members who come from the Reigate direction are requested to park on the Green, leaving space in the Old Road for those who come from the Dorking direction.
