Learn Bridge
Teachers - Where to get lessons on Bridge

The main way to learn this game is to go through Bridge Lessons. We can suggest the following people, who can start you off on the journey. These are both members of Wakefield Bridge Club :-

Danny Parsonson - Please contact him on dannyparsonson@hotmail.com. He has classes on Tuesday & Friday mornings 10 - 12 am based in Normanton

Christine Stack - Please contact her at christine.stack9 @gmail.com. She has classes on Wednesday mornings 10 - 12 am based at Charles Waterton House, Almond Avenue, Walton.

We also have a learning session on a Tuesday morning at the club house, but please be aware that this session is not for new starters with no experience of Bridge. This session is primarily aimed at people who would like to revise or improve their interpretation of Bridge, or who wish to have a more in-depth look at some previous hands.

There are also plenty of other organisations, who offer Bridge lessons and perhaps entice you in, with offers of free lessons. Just as in life, nothing comes for free, and all lessons of Bridge will eventually cost you money. It is just a case of how much you wish to pay & for how long - you have been warned.

Find a Partner

We suggest that you use the services of Pianola to find a partner. This is a great idea when you fancy playing in a one off session, where you can advertise for a partner. Go to "Information" and then look under "Links to Bridge Organisations" section, and then click on "Pianola" . Then log in (you become a member of Pianola when you become a member of Wakefield Bridge Club), and click on the Partner Finder icon and follow the instructions from there.

Whilst we know that some Bridgewebs sites contain a "Find a Partner section", which we have not included on this web-site, as it only duplicates the above.

There is also a mobile phone App for Thursday Evening Players Only. See Elaine in the club if you wish to join this.

But what if you are looking for a permanent partner for a particular session? It appears that there is nothing out there, and yet there must be, because, how do so many people find a partnership? It appears that word of mouth is the way it works, but otherwise how do you find out that someone is prepared to play in a session, but has never been asked or volunteered that information!
