A Fresh New Look for the North East's Premier Bridge Weekend
NEBA is delighted to confirm that the North East Bridge Congress 2026 will take place at the excellent Blackwell Grange Hotel & Spa, Darlington, on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November 2026.
This year sees an exciting new partnership with Oliver Cowan Events, one of the country's leading bridge event organisers. Working together, we aim to provide a friendly, well-organised and enjoyable weekend of bridge for players from across the region and beyond.
Green Point Swiss Pairs
Saturday 28 November – 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm
Seven 7-board matches in a Green Pointed Swiss Pairs event.
Green Point Swiss Teams
Sunday 29 November – 11:00 am to 6:00 pm
Seven 7-board matches in a Green Pointed Swiss Teams event.
Both events will be directed by Jonathan Lillycrop.
9-High Relaxed Pairs
For less experienced players, a separate 9-High Relaxed Pairs event will be held on Saturday 28 November from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Played over 24 boards with a mid-session break, this event provides an enjoyable and welcoming introduction to county-level competition. In addition to prizes for the winners, there will be a special prize for the best pair from any club entering four or more pairs.
Venue and Hospitality
The Blackwell Grange Hotel provides an attractive setting for a weekend of bridge, with ample parking and excellent facilities.
Entry to the Green Point events includes:
- Free parking
- Tea, coffee and sweet treats throughout the day
- Prize fund
Optional catering and accommodation are available at the venue and may be booked through Oliver Cowan Events. Soup & Sandwich Lunch £10 and a 2-course Sunday Lunch £25 must be pre-booked. Rooms are £129 per night single and £139 twin/double.
Green Point Swiss Pairs: £35 per person
Green Point Swiss Teams: £35 per person
Both Days: £65 per person
9-High Relaxed Pairs: £15 per person
