On Wed 5th Jun we hosted an event in the LCBA Mercury Cup, a county-wide competition aimed specifically at those relatively new to the game. We had an excellent turnout of 4 full tables and played 15 boards (the recommended amount). Those who played were very pleased and very much enjoyed the session.

Overall there were 72 pairs taking part. Congratulations to  Claire Burton and Sharon Norman who won our heat and were 16th overall.

As the county-wide results compare players over a wider audience, it is common for county-wide results to differ from those in the local heat. And in our case congratulations to go Veronica Gamble and Leena Harding who were a close second in our heat, but finished higher, in 11th place overall. Well done to all who took part.

County-wide, we had 5 pairs in the top 21. A great result, well done!

We are an active friendly bridge club serving Market Harborough and its surrounding area. We play duplicate bridge in the New Horizons Hall, Coventry Road.(Baptist Church Hall), Market Harborough on various afternoons/evenings and run lessons and improver sessions at the Methodist Church on Wednesdays. Members pay a small annual subscription of £20, visitors are always welcome. 

If you are a visitor looking for a game and have a partner, you can turn up for a Thursday or Friday session, or contact  secretary@mhbridge.com for other sessions

On Monday evenings usually play a 24-board duplicate session. Players need to book on this website, up to a week ahead. A member can book for a non-member to partner them. Visitors welcome, please contact us at enquiries@mhbridge.com

On the first week of each month results count towards our handicap competition for the Jean Pringle Trophy. And on the third Monday results count towards the "scratch" club championship for the Bill Carter Trophy. All results are submitted to the EBU for the National Grading Scheme and award of Masterpoints.

Table money is £5 for members, £6 for non-members.

For those wanting a more relaxed session of duplicate bridge, we recommend the “Breakaway Bridge Club”, which now meets on a WEDNESDAY morning at 9.45am (for a 10am start). in the Baptist Church Market Harborough.
They typically play 18 boards (duplicate bridge), in a relaxed atmosphere. This is an independent group (non-EBU). There is no membership fee, with table money of £4 per person.  Players don't need to come with a partner, they will try to find one for you on the day.

They also have a WhatsApp Group called "Wednesday Bridge" for finding partners. Please contact Stella Joyce (stellafjoyce@gmail.com) for more information.
