Who is doing what in Unit 188?

Rank Advancement 

Four players advanced in rank in June, 2025. Howard Charnas and Bayard King became Regional Masters. Prabha Pophat and Barbara Santangelo became Sectional Masters.

In May Laura Brill became a Grand Life Master after winning the Senior Mixed Pairs with Mark Itabashi at the Memphis NABC. Kelly Corwen is now an Advanced NABC Master. There are two new NABC Masters: Carol Cohen and Keith Johnson. Steve Shomstein is a Regional Master, Benjamin Letz a Sectional Master and three people have become Club Masters: Barry Gray, Jane Joyce and Howard Rabinowitz.

April saw Marcy Fabiani become a Bronze Life Master.  Debbie Cianciulli advanced to NABC Master, Smiljana Petrovic to Sectional Master, and Stephen Joynt to Club Master. New Junior Masters include Ira Finkelson and Jennifer Kaplan.

there were lots of Life Master promotions in March. Advancing to Gold Life master were William Hoffman and Joanne Matthews. Stuart Price became a Ruby Life Master. The three new Bronze Life Masters are also newly minted Life Masters: Serge Budzyn, Susan Schwartz and David Seelenfreud. John Fabiani became an Advanced NABC Master. New NABC Masters include Diana Kent and Missy Swan. Frances Buckley became a new Regional Master, Glafkos Keramidas advanced to Sectional Master, and William Folbert became a new Junior Master.

February saw Norma Rollins become a Ruby Life Master, Christine Foster, Silvia Gesing and David Yaspan climbing to NABC Master rank, Witold Gesing advancing to Sectional Master and Janice Frank and Viola Porter getting promoted to Club Master.

In January we got the last word on 2024 rank advancement. Maureen Berkman won promotion to Silver Life Master. Gina D'Avanzo advanced to Life Master, Abraham Ofer to NABC Master, and Marilyn Birnbaum to Club Master.

December promotions included new Bronze Life Master Judith Burger, new Life Masters Wayne Olson and Franne Weinberg, new Regional Masters Carmen Ess, Cindy Kennedy and John Leonard, new Club Masters Deborah Doyle, Nancie Ellis and Michael Schnur, and new Junior Masters John Engles, Mary Sikes and Wendy Zimmermann.

November was noteworthy for Heritage Hills jack-of-all-trades Karen Sloan finally making Bronze Life Master. Other players getting promotions included new Life Masters Barbara Cuiffo and Sandra Miller, new NABC Master Deborah Sherran, new Regional Master Sybil Nessim, new Club Master Joe Chizzini and new Junior Master Geoffrey Domm.

In October three players climbed to Ruby Life Master: Rosanna Frank, Gary Mills and Florence Olsen. Also during the month there were new NABC Master Mindy Shulman, new Club Master Karin Weisburgh and new Junior Master Maureen Owens.

September promotions included new Gold Life Master Stephen Kleinman, new Regional Master Keith Johnson, new Sectional Master Ted Waksman, new Club Master Nancy Ruskin, and new Junior Masters Nancy Dotlo and Leslie Halle.  

August saw new Bronze Life Master Susan Smithline, new Advanced NABC Master Christopher Jobin, new NABC Masters Kelly Corwen and Robert Sroka, new Regional Masters Cara Iason and Amy Jacobson, new Sectional Master Subhash Sindhwani, and new Junior Masters Romy Coquillette, Viola Porter and David Powers.  

Those advancing in July were new Sapphire Life Master Elizabeth Baecher, new Silver Life Master Ivan Petrovic, new Life Master Melanie Appelbaum, new Regional Master Missy Swan, new Sectional Masters Lisa Kayata and Sue Newman, and new Junior Masters Marilyn Birnbaum and Cheryl Zeitz. Congratulations!

The June rank changes included new Bronze Life Master Pravin Shah, new Life Master Rita Gladstone, new NABC Masters John and Kriszta Venczel, and new Sectional Masters Mary Callahan and Nancy Shifren, as well as new Club Master James Bunn.

May saw promotion for new Sectional Masters Keith Johnson and Carol Kushnick, new Club Masters Linda Forman and Smiljana Petrovic, and new Junior Masters James Bunn and Janice Frank.

April welcomed new Ruby Life Master Patrick Soldano, new Club Master George Marchese, and new Junior Masters Patricia Coughlin and Marjorie Jacobs.

In March we had new Silver Life Masters Keith Bronitt and Michele Lazar, new Bronze Life Master Bonnie Bleustein, new Life Master Deborah Rappaport, new Advanced NABC Masters Melanie Appelbaum and Gina D'Avanzo, new NABC Master Ruth Chizzini, and new Regional Masters Kelly Corwen and Michael Zoulis.

February it was new Ruby Life Master Ricki Gardner and new Club Master Subhash Sindhwani.

In January there was new Life Master Judith Burger and new Club Master Timothy Deal.
