Strathfield Bridge Club Etiquette and Code of Conduct

 

 

Strathfield Bridge Club is committed to providing a friendly, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for all players. This Code of Conduct reflects accepted standards consistent with ABF and BridgeNSW guidelines.

 

1. General Courtesy and Behaviour

• Be courteous and respectful to your partner, opponents, and the Director.

• Greet opponents pleasantly and thank players at the end of play.

• Do not criticise, gloat, demean, or insult others.

 2. Directors and Official Calls

• Call the Director courteously and accept rulings calmly.

• Raise concerns privately outside play.

 3. Conversation and Focus

• Avoid general conversation once bidding has commenced.

• Do not discuss previous hands until the end of the session.

 4. Tempo and Unauthorised Information

• Maintain a steady tempo and avoid mannerisms that convey information.

 5. Practical Table Manners

• Count cards before play and handle boards and cards correctly.

. Dummy must select a card only on the instruction of declarer.

• Play cards deliberately and neatly; dummy does not control play.

6. Systems and Disclosure

• Alert and explain bids in accordance with ABF rules.

 7. Pace of Play

• Be mindful of time; Directors may intervene if required.

 Other Expectations

• Mobile phones must be silent.

• Spectators must remain silent and observe regulations.

 

Serious or repeated breaches may result in disciplinary action.

By playing at Strathfield Bridge Club, all members and visitors agree to follow this Code of Conduct.
