Stourbridge Institute Bridge Association

Minutes of Committee Meeting 27th November 2019

Present: Georgina Lineker, James Taylor, Sally Johnson,          Gavin Tringham, Glo Jackson

The minutes of the committee meeting of September 11th were approved

Chairman’s Report

  • Restaurant Availability - It has been agreed by the SISC committee that the restaurant will always be available for Bridge sessions whenever the function room is not                                                                             
  • Bridge teaching is due to start at the end of January.                      

Posters have been put up in the Institute, Stourbridge Library and the Hub.                                                                                                           

2 couples have shown an interest.                                                          

LW, GL and MH to meet in early January to finalise plans

  • SJ reported that at a county meeting it was suggested that details of Bridge sessions and teaching be put into Estate Agents Packs                                                                                          
  • Our last Social Bridge event was very successful with 5 tables                    
  • In order to qualify for the Afternoon Order of Merit competitions, pairs must have played in 20 sessions
  • At the start of 2020 it will be announced that sessions of 3 tables will be included in OoM competitions.  This is because hands are played the same number of times with 3 or 3&1/2 tables

Secretary’s Report

  • The EBU have introduced a new session code for Mentor sessions
  • Christmas Party – Friday December 13th                                              
  • Table money will be paid at the usual rate and and the money from the raffle will go to Mary Stevens Hospice

Members to be reminded again about bringing prizes for the raffle

Competitions Secretary’s Report

  • Due to lack of support the Championship Pairs competition scheduled for Saturday November 23rd has had to be cancelled. Alternative dates are being considered
