Championship Pairs and Order of Merit

Championship  Pairs Event

The event will be open to all members

  • There will be be no qualification criteria provided that participants are full members of the club (including associate members) and have played in a minimum of  6 SBC events during the current calendar year. A minimum of 6 pairs must enter in order for the event to take place.
  • Refreshments will be made available on the day subject to advance booking.
  • The date is viewable on the calendar, a sign up list for entrants will be posted on the club noticeboard nearer the time.

Order of Merit

In order to reward the clubs most successful pairs over a full calendar year, two Order of Merit Championship competions are run throughout the calendar year These are:

Evening Order of Merit-------Trophy sponsored by Claude Noble and Wendy Packwood.

Afternoon Order of Merit-----Trophy sponsored by Jim and Rita Nicholas

Personal Rankings

The web site records all results for Institute members and visitors and presents them in ranking order for both pairs and individuals. Click on Competitions and then the relevant competitions and you will see where you stand in the current ranking lists.

Host System

A host System for members or visitors who wish to attend the club without a partner on a Tuesday or Friday evening. The Calendar on this site shows the Host on each evening while the full rota is displayed on the Notice Board. Rotas are also usually available under the 'Rotas' section of the website.

Bridgemate was introduced in September 2006. The results are displayed throughout each event. Travellers and name slips have now been discontinued.

Results are usually loaded on to the website as the end of each event or within a few days. Full results, including score sheets (travellers) for each board and player's personal score cards are available on the website.
