Learn or Improve Your Bridge

If you want to learn bridge, information about classes and teachers is available through the EBU website. Classes usually start in September and are delivered face to face or online.

If you've already got some bridge experience and want to play and improve your game in a friendly environment, please note our 'gentle' bridge session on a Thursday from 10.30 to 12.30 might be ideal. This is designed to support players move from lessons into more competitive bridge as well as for members to have a shorter, enjoyable game.

Please come along and support everyone to become a better bridge player in a fun, social environment - you can come along to a session without booking or having a partner as we have a host system in place and you don't have to attend every week (though we'd love it if you did!).

We have also started a Hand of the Week feature on the website aimed at those wanting to improve their bridge game.

We are delighted that Michael Byrne will give our expert talk on Friday 9th May on 'Drawing the right inferences as Declarer'. Michael will give eight hands for us to play to illustrate his talk then show us what we should have played! Tickets are priced at £15 and this includes cheese and wine. Please see Anne Bell to get your tickets asap to avoid disappointment as numbers will be limited.

On Friday 11th April Steve and Georgia were first with Jill and Dave and Liz and Don second and third.

Congratulations to Audrey Croft for her promotion to a 1 Star Regional Master and to Michael Solomon on becoming a Local Master.

If you spot a scoring mistake in any of our games, please contact the Secretary or Scorer by noon the following day.

WELCOME TO STANNINGTON BRIDGE CLUB

Stannington BC was launched in August 2023 as a new EBU affiliated bridge club. We combined the previous Newcastle and Cramlington bridge clubs into one organisation.

We offer three regular games, all operating under EBU rules and awarding master points. On Wednesday evenings we play an online game on BBO. On Thursday mornings at Stannington Village Hall we have a gentle bridge session for members and improvers and provide hosts as partners. On Friday evenings we play face to face at the hall too when we hold our main club competitions. We have a monthly special event including expert talks, cheese and wine evenings and, of course, our legendary Christmas Party!

We provide free refreshments and welcome visitors and players of all abilities to our friendly club.

NEBA IS 90 YEARS OLD IN 2025

NEBA needs more people to become County Tournament Directors and is able to pay all the costs for this training on the weekend of 17th and 18th May. If you know anyone who is interested please contact Catherine asap.
