Congratulations to Sam Botfield and Ann Francis who came top out of 65 pairs, with 62.89%, in the North/South section of the Kent CBA run Blue Point Improvers Pairs Session 1 (rank 9 and below), an event played as part of the EBU Year End Congress.

| Competition Winners |
Congratulations to the winners of the 6-monthly competitions for the period March 2022 to August 2022.
The Brown Cup was won by Roger Donato with the average of his best 8 scores being 63.03% with John Greenhalgh in second place with an average score of 62.13%.
The Boucher Cup, for players with an NGS grade of less than 55% at the start of the competition, was won by Iain MacKenzie with an average of his best 8 scores being 59.52%. Mel Thomas was second with an average of 57.66%.
The Bilbey Handicap Cup was won by Dianne Browne with Roger Burkeman in second place.

| Nigel Guthrie 1940-2022 |
We are sad to report that Nigel Guthrie passed away on 29th August. He was a Scottish International player and a long-standing member of Reading Bridge Club and played regularly at the club until he retired and moved back to Scotland in about 2010. He played for the Reading A team in the Berks and Bucks League of 8 and in the B&BCBA Tollemache team. He won many of the club’s Cup competitions over the years, some of them several times, and his name appears in many places on the Honours boards at the club. He also won many B&BCBA competitions about half of which were in partnership with David Barnes.
His funeral will be at 9.30am on Friday 16 September at St Joseph's Church, Tollcross, Glasgow. Everyone is welcome to attend. If you'd like to send flowers they should go to Co-op Funeralcare, 1336-1342 Shettleston Road, Shettleston, G32 7YS.

| EBU Masters Pairs |
Congratulations to Clair Sirkis and Marc Rivoira who with a score of 61.16% won the EBU Masters Pairs, for those ranked below Regional Master, on the weekend of 26/27 February. They will receive the EBU's Anne Staveley Trophy.

Congratulations to the winners of the 6-monthly competitions for the period September 2021 to February 2022.
Once again the Brown Cup was decided on the very last session of the qualifying 6 month term with Chris Hall overtaking John Greenhalgh by 62.28% to 61.92%.
In the Boucher Cup for players with an NGS grade below 55%, Sam Botfield edged ahead of his regular partner Ann Francis by 59.70% to 59.34%.
John Greenhalgh won the Bilbey Cup handicap ahead of Roger Burkeman.

Although not a competition, since April 2021 we have been tracking the number of appearances of all players. The members (and indeed partners) who have participated the most are Ken Jones and Nigel Cooper. The Committee thanks them and all the members and visitors who have supported the club during these difficult times.

| EBU Winter Sims |
RBC took part in the EBU British Winter Sim Pairs on 13th January. Congratulations to Janet Rixon and Giorgio Jeronimidis who came top at Reading and 44th out of 207 pairs overall and to Nigel Cooper and Ken Jones who finished 2nd at Reading and 32nd overall.
