Playing at the clubhouse

See below for an outline of our precautions against covid.

Information for players

Before the session:

  1. All those playing bridge on the club premises should be fully vaccinated, including boosters if eligible
  2. No unvaccinated young people (including children) should play at adult sessions
  3. Anyone with possible Covid symptoms (including symptoms of a mild cold) is strongly encouraged to complete a negative lateral flow test before coming into the club
  4. Anyone in recent close contact with someone who has possible or proven Covid is strongly encouraged to complete a negative lateral flow test before coming into the club
  5. For duplicate bridge sessions you must pay by card when you arrive at the club; we do not accept cash
  6. For Learn and Play sessions on Thursday evenings you need to book and pay for your place on Bookwhen, in advance.
  7. We will do our best to provide a host for each session, but please check the website calendar to see if one is available before planning to play without a pre-arranged partner
  8. Hand sanitiser is available at the club; you may bring your own if you wish
  9. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the session, so that we can be ready to start on time. This is particularly important if you wish to use the host system

During the session:

  1. There is no requirement to wear a facemask whilst you are on the club premises, though you may do so if you wish
  2.  The ventilation system in the main room will be run at maximum capacity and provides a sufficient flow of fresh air to for up to 30 people. Weather permitting, windows and doors may be opened to provide additional ventilation.
  3. The number of tables in the main playing room is reduced to 13 so that there is plenty of space between tables. If needed, additional tables will be set up in the middle and front rooms
  4. You will be able to serve yourself with tea and coffee; the bar is open during the evening sessions
  5. You may use the coat rack in the kitchen area at your own risk
  6. You may wish to sanitise your hands at the start of every round, before you take your cards out of the board
  7. You may choose to use the same bidding box throughout the session; if so please carry it with you from table to table
