Playing bridge at the club

We are playing bridge at the clubhouse on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 10am, plus Learn and Play sessions on the first Thursday evening of the month.

For further information about the Tuesday and Friday morning sessions please click here

For further information about Learn and Play sessions please click here.

Information for players

Before the session:

  1. All those playing bridge on the club premises should be fully vaccinated
  2. No unvaccinated young people (including children) should play at adult sessions
  3. Anyone with possible Covid symptoms (including symptoms of a mild cold) should not come into the club
  4. Anyone in recent close contact with someone who has possible or proven Covid should not come into the club
  5. You need to book and pay for your place on Bookwhen, in advance; we will not accept cash on the day
  6. Face-to-face sessions will only run if at least 3 tables have booked in advance; please check the club website before setting out to make sure that the session is still running
  7. We will do our best to provide a host for each session, but please check the website calendar to see if one is available before planning to play without a pre-arranged partner*
  8. Please bring your own hand sanitiser; hand sanitiser will also be available at the club
  9. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the session, so that we can be ready to start on time

During the session:

  1. The ventilation system in the main room will be run at maximum capacity and provides a sufficient flow of fresh air to for up to 30 people. If numbers exceed this windows and doors will be opened to provide additional ventilation – if this is likely you may wish to bring an extra layer of clothing (or two!)
  2. The number of tables in the main playing room will be reduced to 7 so that there is plenty of space between tables
  3. You are not required to wear a face mask, but may wear one if you wish
  4. You will be able to serve yourself with tea and coffee; there will be no bar service
  5. You may use the coatrack in the kitchen area at your own risk
  6. You may wish to sanitise your hands at the start of every round, before you take your cards out of the board
  7. You will use the same bidding box throughout the session so please carry it with you from table to table
  8. Only Norths should touch the boards except when players are removing their cards from the board – then players will touch the unique side of the board containing their cards but should not touch any other part of it
  9. Only Norths actually touch the Bridgemates. Norths enter scores, show East / West for their agreement, and then press “Yes” in their sight
  10. The Director will move all boards between tables; so, please leave the boards on your table when you have finished a round

* If you’d like to volunteer to host a specific face-to-face session please email Liza Furnival
