Individual Competition

The club's Individual Competition will take place on Sunday 16th October 2022 at 2pm.

This is a sociable and fun event where players enter as individuals and play with a different partner every round. Players of all abilities are very welcome to take part.

We will play between 28 and 40 boards, with a break at half time for tea and light refreshments (cake and biscuits). Play finishes between 5.30 and 6.30 pm, depending on the number of tables and number of boards played.

Everyone plays the same basic ACOL system – a standard system card will be provided for you to follow. Click here to see the system card that was used in 2019 and 2020. Note that the system card provided on the day may differ slightly from this one.

The winner will be the club’s Individual Champion for 2022-2023, and will be awarded the Thompson trophy at the AGM.

Individual events do not count towards your NGS grading. Masterpoints are awarded, but at a reduced rate.

Entry fee £7.00 to include tea and light refreshments.

The closing date for entries is nominally Saturday 15th October. However please be aware that we may close the event to entries sooner than this so that we don't end up with a fraction of a table.

If the competition is marked as fully booked on Bookwhen, please add your name to the waiting list - you will be offered a place once we are able to make up an additional full table.

Please note that it may not be possible to accommodate players who wish to have a stationary seat - most individual movements require all players to switch tables and seats.

Please email Liza Furnival, the Tournament Secretary if you have any queries.
