Table Etiquette

Club Table Etiquette

We all come to play Bridge in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere so -

Please

  • Be a good host or guest at the table
  • Stop discussing previous hands in order to greet your opponents at the start of the round
  • Give credit for good play or defence
  • Avoid criticism of other’s play
  • Give credit for good declarer play or defence
  • Don’t give unasked for tuition or triumphant explanation
  • Remember calling “Director Please” is a helpful, not critical action
  • Try not to let adjacent tables hear details of cards or play
  • Move promptly when the Director calls for the move
  • Silence your mobile (use vibrate)

Privacy Notice

 Data protection policy for the Nottingham Bridge Club (TNBC)

 

  1.  TNBC collects members' names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses when a member joins the Club or advises the Club of any change. Only an email address (OR a telephone number if no email address exists) is kept online. It is edited by the member (can be deleted or expanded). Members' data is used for the communication of information about the Club and about specific events. No other information is shared with other members and is shared with other organisations only as set out below.

  1.  We collect the scores from games you play which are displayed on notice boards and on the Results Page of the Club web-site. Your results are also shared with the English Bridge Union (EBU) for the purpose of compiling and updating the National Grading Scheme (NGS) You should contact the EBU if you do not wish to be a member of the NGS.

  1.  The EBU also shares your results information with its associated charity English Bridge Education and Development (EBED). Information about your results is also passed to Bridgewebs for the purposes of updating the Club's results page. Your information is not passed by us to any other organisation

  1. Your information is stored in secure digital form on computer and also in the form of written documents (i.e. your membership application form and any changes advised to us) which are held in a secure, locked location.

  1. The person responsible for ensuring your data is securely stored is the Club Membership Secretary (Data Controller). Other Trustees may have access to your data for the purposes of carrying out their legitimate tasks for the Club.

  1. We normally retain members' data until the membership year end, after they resign, but will delete any such data on request from the member.

  1. On the death of a member all personal data will be removed from the Club's records.

ICO advise – “CCTV used on your property will be exempt from the Data Protection Act unless you are capturing footage of individuals outside your property.

TNBC does not capture footage of individuals outside the boundary of the property and the (hired) car park.
