Llandudno Bridge Club is working with Llandudno U3A to promote bridge and introduce more people to this enjoyable and sociable game.
Bridge has a lot to offer. It is a game that keeps the mind active, encourages concentration and decision-making, and provides plenty of opportunities to meet and spend time with other people.
But if you've never played before, bridge can sometimes look rather complicated from the outside. There are cards, bidding, contracts and a vocabulary that can seem like a language of its own!
Working together to promote bridge
That's why we're pleased to be working with Llandudno U3A. The aim is to give people the opportunity to find out more about bridge in a friendly and relaxed way, without expecting them to know anything about the game beforehand.
You don't have to be an experienced card player, and you certainly don't have to understand the bidding before you start. The first step is simply finding out what bridge is all about.
Curious about bridge? We'd love to help you discover what the game is all about.
Bridge is about people too
One of the things we particularly want people to discover is that bridge isn't just about the cards.
Four people sit around a table, partners work together, conversations take place and friendships can develop. The game provides a natural way to meet people and spend time together.
That social side of bridge is an important part of what makes the game so enjoyable. For many players, the people they meet and the friendships they make are just as important as the cards.
Something new to learn
Bridge is also a game that can grow with you. You can start with the basics and gradually discover more as you become familiar with the game.
There is always something new to learn, whether it is understanding the bidding, improving your card play or simply becoming more confident at the table.
You don't need to learn everything at once. The important thing is to enjoy the process and have fun along the way.
A chance to give bridge a try
Perhaps you've played cards before. Perhaps you remember someone in your family playing bridge. Perhaps you've never played at all and simply want to find out what happens around a bridge table.
Whatever your starting point, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
If you discover that bridge is something you'd like to pursue, Llandudno Bridge Club is here to help you take the next step.
A partnership that makes sense
We are delighted to be working alongside Llandudno U3A to promote bridge locally.
By bringing people together through learning and social activities, we hope to encourage more people to discover a game that can provide years of enjoyment.
