  NORTHERN BRIDGE LEAGUE

Lincolnshire has entered 2 teams of 8 in the Northern Bridge League for 2022. The opposition will likely be – Yorkshire, Manchester, Lancashire, and  Mersey/Cheshire in the A division and these same counties plus Cumbria and Westmorland in the C division. The event will be played on 4 Saturdays, each day being a multiple teams contest with about 40 boards being played. It will be played on the "Realbridge" platform. The dates are:

Saturday July 9th
Saturday August 20th
Saturday September 17th
Saturday October 8th

We are looking for pairs (or individuals) who would like to play in some or all of these events. The first team will be facing very strong opposition (some of international standard) but the second team will be in a competition similar in level to Lincolnshire events at Dunholme. If you are interested, please contact Rodney Mitchell either by email (rodney@bridgenotes.co.uk) or any other means. Selection of teams playing will made about 2 weeks before each event.

  Bainton Trophy Final

The Bainton Trophy Final was held at Dunholme VH on 20th February 2022. 10 pairs had qualified for the final, which was played with a Full Howell movement over 9 x 4 board rounds for a total of 36 boards. Every pair played against every other pair to give the overall result.
As usual, the result was a very close call for the winners. Mo Parsons & Debbie Burton had tied with Mark Wardell & Jackie Pfister. The winner was therefore decided by the four head to head boards played by the pairs, giving a 21 - 11 matchpoint win to Mo & Debbie. Both pairs will be eligible to play in the Corwen Trophy which will be held on-line on Realbridge in May this year. The competition was played in a very cordial spirit and enjoyed by all. Thanks to you all. Glynn.
