SOCIAL SCENE |
A varied programme of organised social events are a popular feature of all good bridge clubs. They not only encourage non bridge playing partners to get involved in the club and make new friends, but also provide the opportunity for people living alone to enjoy hassle free outings in the company of friends.
A day out to la Gomera, a visit to a local vineyard with a wine tasting, and a trip to one of the local Tenerife national parks or landmarks are just three of the many possibilities under consideration.
Personally, I have always enjoyed participating in the popular monthly Sunday Rummikub competitions at Los Gigantes organised by their bridge club. It would be nice to try something similar here. Perhaps a regular Sunday games afternoon with chess, cribbage and backgammon on offer. And inevitably followed by dinner at the club.
Needless to say that dinner dances will appear on the social agenda and, looking ahead, I am sure there will be enough of you wanting something special to be organised over the festive period.
Watch this space.
