Members will be sad to hear Peter Watson died on Thursday, 5th March, following a short illness.

Peter was a longstanding member who joined the club over twenty years ago and during this time was on the committee for nine years holding the posts of both treasurer and chairman. Latterly Peter was elected President of the club, an office he held for several years.

Peter was the initiator and driving force of introducing the Monday afternoon meetings at the Sugar Beet Club where Ely Bridge Club hold their weekly meetings to this day.

Peter was a very popular member and a well respected and fine bridge player and will be missed by us all.

Peter's funeral will be at March crematorium on Monday 30^th March at 2:30 pm with a reception afterwards at the nearby March golf club.

Congratulations to the following who achieved amongst the 10 highest number of Master Points gained in 2025 in Cambs & Hunts among players who were below County Master at the start of 2025: 
Sue Merrell 4th, Andy Churchill 6th, David Green 7th=.

All laid out on the stage before the 51 members present at the Christmas party started on the food and drink, which was funded by the club and organised by Sue Merrell.

Congratulations to Kate Ross and Graham Stark, who came 3rd out of 26 pairs in the duplicate session on 5th November at the Fulbourne Centre run by Cambs & Hunts Contract Bridge Association, beating England International Sally Brock into 4th place. In the afternoon, Sally gave a commentary on the hands that had been played that morning.
