Our Bridge Club is also a Community - Gordon Mellor
There are bridge clubs and then there is Dereham, where we are very lucky to have attracted some of the greatest members into our community. Sometimes it is nice to step back and acknowledge individuals that contribute in many ways to making Dereham Bridge Club such a friendly one.
Last Night (14 January 2026) we did just that and took a few minutes to award Gordon Mellor a silly but heart felt Thank You trophy. Gordon is always active in his participation in setting up the club for our evening events and puts in an abundance of effort without an iota of fuss.
But... we see see you Gordan - We Thank You for Being such a valued, valuable and keen club member. x

The DBC Trophy 2025
The DBC Trophy is awarded each year around the third Wednesday in August. The cup was presented to the club by Di Ball our original Chairperson, when she left Norfolk to live in foreign climes (Herts).
Di tries to be here each year to present the trophy, this year however this was difficult as she won the cup herself together with her partner Graham Connolly. Congratulations to you both !

The Shirley Cowshall Trophy 2025
The Shirley Cowshall Trophy is played annually on the nearest Wednesday to what was Shirley's birthday. It is played and won as a pairs competition. This year unusually it was one by Fred de Cruz with Odd Bod. Odd Bod is the name given to the dummy from other tables that becomes the single player's partner .for that round. Odd Bod on this occasion was a rotating representative of most of the club ! So Fred de Cruz & Odd Bod (most of the club) won the cup. Well Done Fred AND Odd Bod.
(The cup is seen being presented here by a couple of other ODD Bods, last year's winners Nick Hoare & Richard Stratton)
