Players are requested to be seated at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start of play at 7:15pm.  Help provided by players arriving earlier than this to arrange the room is much appreciated.

If you've got any comments or questions on this web-site, please contact the WebMaster.

Welcome to the Crawley Bridge Club web-site

The club meets on Wednesdays and Fridays for a 7:15 start at Grattons Indoor Bowls Club (off Grattons Drive in Three Bridges) to play duplicate pairs bridge in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere.  Occasionally, we have a teams or individual event.  On Monday evenings, we have an online BBO relaxed duplicate pairs session for less-experienced players.

The club is keen to encourage you to play the great game of bridge.  We run teaching courses for beginners and improvers.   Further information can be found on the Teaching page.

For general information, please refer to the Information pages.  To contact somebody at the club, please refer to the Contact Us page or the Committee page.

The Men (pictured minus Frank, Ralph, Dave S and Maurice) were victorious again on Wednesday October 8th despite the best efforts of the Ladies!  It was a very enjoyable match and thanks go to Mark (men’s captain) and Kate (women’s captain) for assembling the 2 teams.  Special thanks go to Mervyn for his splendid organisation, both before and during the event.  No doubt, we will do it all again next year!

Summer Development Series

Our hugely successful summer development series concluded on September 9th with a duplicate play competition.  These sessions were well attended throughout and have proved invaluable as a pathway to play at our club.

The competition was contested by 13 pairs with a handicap result declared.

Congratulations to John Williams and Andrew Spiers who won on handicap and to ......

...... Chrissie Spiers and Christine Verdi who came third.

Open Day at Haskins!
Open Day at Haskins!

September 7th was the date of our second Open Day at Haskins in Copthorne.  It was very well received by members of the public and we hope that we may have some more students for our next beginning bridge course that starts on September 30th.

Big thanks are due to those Crawley Club members who manned the playing table in shifts to cover the whole 6 hours as well as to those members who came to support them and watch the proceedings!  Special thanks to Gordon for his preparation beforehand and being there all day, along with George.

Thanks also to Dave for allowing us to be there and his team of staff in the restaurant who supplied us with refreshments all day.

2025 Summer Individual
2025 Summer Individual

The invitation to play in the Summer Individual produced 40 players - the most we have ever had!

A good sociable time was had by all, especially John P. who was first, Susie who was second and Betty who was third.  They all chose bottles of wine as prizes rather than bridge tea towels!

Huge thanks go to those involved in running the event, especially Richard J. who I suspect will take a while to recover from organising beforehand and running the event on the night!

2025 CBC Summer Barbecue
2025 CBC Summer Barbecue

The CBC Summer BBQ was hosted by Dave Lilly at Haskins on Sunday 27th July.  It was a splendid occasion with well over seventy people attending.  Many thanks to Dave and the team from Haskins who laid on a fabulous spread in a gorgeous environment.

We were lucky with the weather and the Lionesses did the business too!  Many thanks to Andy Kernan for wielding his camera to such good effect!
