| CORNISH PAIR WINS NINE HIGH CORWEN TROPHY.....AGAIN |
This one day national pairs event for players with no higher than a 9 NGS ranking on 1 January, was played on 30 May and won by Henry Gompertz and Neil Harris with 60.75%, over 1% more than the second placed pair, and earning them 4.0 green points. Many congratulations to them.
This is only the second year the event has been run. Last year, another Cornish pair, Maureen Brinton and Judith Williams also won the event. We may not have any superstar Grand Masters in Cornwall, but we certainly have a hard core of very competitive players who can more than hold their own out of county.
Gillian Swann and Sylvia Smith from Liskeard finished a very creditable 13th out of 55 pairs finishing with 54.6% and winning 1.14 green points.

| HAT TRICK OF WINS |
CONGRATULATIONS to Geoff Smith, Rob Jones, Bill Thomson and Mike O'Neill on winning the F2F Pivot teams at Carnon Downs on Sunday 29 March. They finished with +124 IMPs, an amazing score in a 28 boards event. A very creditable second on +42 IMPs were the West Cornwall team of Sue John, Colin Lee, Geoff Plowman and Phil Dickson, and in third place with +31 IMPs were Suzanne Warring, Neil Harris, Mick Robson and Jo Bryant.
This is the third consecutive county teams event that the winning team have won this season. They are representing Cornwall in the national Pachabo Cup Final in June, and in their current form, they can look forward to the event with every confidence.
