Sunday 10th May: Congratulations to Mia Deschepper & Tim Rees for winning the 2026 Arthur James Pairs and to Joseph Bentley & Sophie Akers for winning the 2026 Beatus Cup.

Also congratulations to Gwynn Davis & Sue Ingham for winning the EWBA 2026 Victor Ludorum (awarded annually for the best overall performance in the Stan Berger Trophy, the Louis Lermon Cup, the Arthur James Bowl, the Mixed Pairs Championship and the Area qualifier for the WBU Open pairs)

ECATS CELTIC PAIRS - Supporting the WBU:  Tuesday 12th May in the Club, and Wednesday 13^th May on Realbridge.

Different hands each day so you can play both sessions. Table money of £6 (£7 for Visitors) includes a £2 donation.

Bridge Courses & Supported Play: Simon, with the help of Sonia, Jon, Stephen and Sooz, has developed a pathway for those new to Bridge starting with a Begin Bridge Course and leading to actual play in Club sessions.

We now have: Begin Bridge Courses, Continuing Bridge Courses and Supported Play on Wednesday afternoons

Beginning Bridge 10 Week Course:  The course that started on the 28^th January has now ended. Amother Beginning Bridge course will start in September - more details nearer the date.

Continuing Bridge 10 Week Course: The course, held on Wednesday mornings in the club, is taking a break and further details will follow when it restarts. 

Daytime Bridge: If you are looking for a friendly game and a cup of coffee in the daytime then we hold four sessions each week. Come and join us in the club on Monday afternoons at 1.30pm for Social Bridge (with home made cakes!), Supported Play at 1.30pm on Wednesdays, also Thursday afternoons at 2pm and Friday mornings at 10am both of these sessions being suitable for players of all standards.

If you need a bridge partner for one or two sessions or on a more permanent basis you can contact Sonia Liggett, and she will send an email to the members to see if someone is available and willing - no guarantee!. Her contact details are:

Apologies if I have missed any team members from the above teams.  I will sort the prize money over the next few days.

I would also like to say well done to Joe and the juniors.  Some had little or no experience of bridge or of team’s events, but they turned out and played.  A hard, but great learning experience for them.

Supported Play: Would you like to improve your bridge with a friendly group of like-minded players? If so you can join our Supported Play Sessions at 1.30pm every Wednesday , cost £5 per person. If you are planning to join us, you can now book a ticket in advance online via the club’s website or pay on the day.

Supported Play sessions of between 16 and 20 boards give you the opportunity to play bridge in a friendly environment where you can ask for help when you are not sure about bidding a particular hand. Please try to arrive around 10 minutes early so we can set-up a movement and get play started promptly.

The Pro-Am Teams are back! The Pro-Am Teams sessions will be held on the 4th Wednesday of the month. Come along as a pair and you will be matched with appropriate partners.

SCORING SYSTEM

We are using iBEscore, a phone/tablet based scoring app.

To download the app go to Applestore, Googleplay or your Appstore and search for iBEscore.

The interface is clear, colourful and very user friendly. Please download and explore the app.

The HELP section of the app contains details for players on how to enter scores. You can use a smart phone if you wish but most people use the tablets that we provide.
