2023 GP Swiss Pairs |

Congratulations to Kevin Maddox and Tony Haworth this year's winners, shown above with WWBA President, Steve Jarvis. Kevin & Tony made a strong start, and despite a valiant effort from Tony Disley & Simon Richards, who shared the lead going into the last round, held on to win by 9 VPs. In 2nd place were Chris & Angela Overton followed by Tony Cookson & Wayne Jenkins in 3rd, Tony Disley & Simon Richards 4th.
It is great to see that F2F competition numbers are improving at last - with almost twice as many pairs today compared with this event last year, so rapidly heading for pre-Covid levels. Keep up the good work!
Many thanks to our ATO Dave Nicklin for organising and directing this highly popular event.

John Isaac Pairs |

Emer Disley & Tony Haworth (2023 John Isaac winners)
with WWBA Chair, Steve Jarvis.
For the first time since 2019 we were able to hold our AGM and John Isaac GP Pairs competition face to face. Ably directed by Sarah Amos, nineteen pairs pairs battled it out with Emer & Tony finishing just ahead of Chris & Angela Overton in 2nd place, with Simon Richards & Tony Disley hot on their heels in 3rd. it was good to see that numbers for the John Isaac were almost back to pre-Covid levels, though sadly we had to cancel the Ann Dolan Novice event through lack of support.
Come on Novices, let's see if we can get the Ann Dolan back up and running next year!
