Virtual "Porthcawl" Congress 2023

Congratulations to Stefan Lindfors & Ian Walsh, winners of the Red Dragon Championship Pairs for the second year running!  It was a close competition this year with Margaret Lane & Lee Collier hot on their heels in 2nd place and Fu Cheung & Viking Yuen 3rd.

Sadly this was the only event we were actually able to run; like last year the Swiss Teams event planned for the Saturday attracted insufficient entries and had to be cancelled sad

Many thanks to Sarah and her team at IBEx for organising and running the event for us once more.

Hopefully next year we will be able to return to the traditional full weekend of Face to Face bridge -

Watch this space!

2023 Vince Bevan Pairs

Congratulations to Gareth Jones & Lee Collier eventual winners of the 2023 Vince Bevan Pairs trophy, with Tim Dean & Peter Milewski closely following in 2nd place.  Tim & Peter had been in the lead until the last round....hard luck guys!

Many thanks to Dave Nicklin for organising and directing an enjoyable day's bridge.

2023 GP Swiss Pairs

Congratulations to Kevin Maddox and Tony Haworth this year's winners, shown above with WWBA President, Steve Jarvis.  Kevin & Tony made a strong start, and despite a valiant effort from Tony Disley & Simon Richards, who shared the lead going into the last round, held on to win by 9 VPs.  In 2nd place were Chris & Angela Overton followed by Tony Cookson & Wayne Jenkins in 3rd, Tony Disley & Simon Richards 4th.

It is great to see that F2F competition numbers are improving at last - with almost twice as many pairs today compared with this event last year, so rapidly heading for pre-Covid levels.  Keep up the good work!

Many thanks to our ATO Dave Nicklin for organising and directing this highly popular event.
