Air Conditioning: The air conditioning in the hall may be in operation during hot weather. Although this will be welcomed by many, some people may find it uncomfortable so please be aware of this and dress accordingly. 

Congratulations Sue! - We are delighted to announce that our own Sue Ingham has been promoted to the highest rank of Premier Grand Master. She joins a select group of only 9 Welsh Bridge players and is the only Welsh female Premier Grand Master. Many congratulations Sue.

Isabel Evans Summer Ladder - Congratulations to John Marshall who won the Summer Ladder ahead of Gwynn Davis in 2nd place and Simon Gottschalk in third.

EWBA Stan Berger Pairs held on Sunday 13th in the club. 

Congratulations to Mike Best and Suzy Lawson, the winners of a close fought competition, just ahead of Simon Lee and Jacqueline Archer in 2nd and Tim Barsby and Steve Webb in 3rd.

SEPTEMBER: Tuesday 22nd 7pm in the club & Wednesday 23rd 7pm on RealBridge: ECats WBU Autumn Sim Pairs raising money for Youth Bridge in Wales and Wales Air Ambulance

These Green Pointed simultaneous pairs events will have different hands each day so you can play both sessions.

Come and enjoy pitting your skills against a larger field and support these brilliant causes at the same time.

Table money of £7 (£8 for Visitors) includes a £3 donation.

Bridge Courses & Supported Play: Simon, with the help of Sonia, Jon, Stephen and Sooz, has developed a pathway for those new to Bridge starting with a Begin Bridge Course and leading to actual play in Club sessions.

We now have: Begin Bridge Courses, Continuing Bridge Courses and Supported Play on Wednesday afternoons

Beginning Bridge 10 Week Course:   The next Begin Bridge Course will start on Wednesday the 30^th September 2026 at 2.00pm and will run until 2nd December 2026. There will be a Free Taster Session the week before on the 23^rd  September also starting at 2.00pm. For more information or to book the course or the free “taster” session please email: teaching@cardiffbridgeclub.org.

Continuing Bridge 10 Week Course: The course, held on Wednesday mornings in the club, is taking a break and further details will follow when it restarts. 

Daytime Bridge: If you are looking for a friendly game and a cup of coffee in the daytime then we hold four session

the dancefloor.s each week. Come and join us in the club on Monday afternoons at 1.30pm for Social Bridge (with home made cakes!), Supported Play at 1.30pm on Wednesdays, also Thursday afternoons at 2pm and Friday mornings at 10am both of these sessions being suitable for players of all standards.

Winter League: 

The Winter League will resume under new management!

We are extremely grateful to Liz for running this so successfully over many years and cannot thank her enough. She deserves a break and hopefully she can just play and relax, if that is the right word!

We would prefer that you enter a team of 6 nominated players, but will accept a minimum of 5 nominated players.

Table money will be £4 pp for CBC Members, £5 pp for non-members, £1 pp for Juniors.

You can individually pay each night by card on Club Tickets, but each team can pay by cash on the night.

The nightly sweep will be an extra £1 pp payable in cash on the night.

The scoring system will continue as in previous years.

Supported Play: Would you like to improve your bridge with a friendly group of like-minded players? If so you can join our Supported Play Sessions at 1.30pm every Wednesday , cost £5 per person. If you are planning to join us, you can now book a ticket in advance online via the club’s website or pay on the day.

Supported Play sessions of between 16 and 20 boards give you the opportunity to play bridge in a friendly environment where you can ask for help when you are not sure about bidding a particular hand. Please try to arrive around 10 minutes early so we can set-up a movement and get play started promptly.

The Pro-Am Teams are back! The Pro-Am Teams sessions will be held on the 4th Wednesday of the month. Come along as a pair and you will be matched with appropriate partners.

SCORING SYSTEM

We are using iBEscore, a phone/tablet based scoring app.

To download the app go to Applestore, Googleplay or your Appstore and search for iBEscore.

The interface is clear, colourful and very user friendly. Please download and explore the app.

The HELP section of the app contains details for players on how to enter scores. You can use a smart phone if you wish but most people use the tablets that we provide.
