The game of Bridge, should be available to all, wherever possible. Here at WBC (Wakefield Bridge Club), we are striving to achieve this..........
Physical Access -
1 - Car Parking - Please refer to our "HOW TO FIND US AT WBC (Wakefield Bridge Club)" section in the "MENU", for detailed photographs & written instructions, which include car parking and walking up the slope to our Club, We have extremely limited accessible parking next to the Club (only 3no parking spaces), which is regulated & monitored by our landlords. Please do not park here without seeking confirmation of availability from the Secretary first (Our Secretary is Stephen Hanslip on 0781 555 3130 or e-mail "secretary@wakefieldbridgeclub.co.uk").
2 - We are a ground level location, but with a small step into our entrance passageway. We possess a portable ramp, which can be quickly & easily put into position, as required. We can accommodate mobility chairs, quite easily, but we would ask you to contact us first please, so that we can ensure that your time playing with us, is as pleasant as possible.
Toilet Access - We have both female & male accessible toilets within our Club, but due to the constraints of our building, mobility chair users may find it a struggle to use the facilities, for which we can only apologise.
Card Holders - We have a selection of different types of these freely available for use. Please just ask.
Left Handed Bidding Boxes - We have 6 no of these, either in black or yellow. Please just ask if you require these.
High Visibility Cards - Not currently available, but we are a little bit further down the line with this - we are still looking into this aspect. We have obtained a test pack of cards, and we are currently trialling these with one of our dealing machines.
Induction Loop - Again, not currently available - but we are looking into this aspect.
Large Scorecards - Thanks to one of our members George Chambers, we have some prototypes of these available on the table at the front. Please try them out.
Lighting - We now have an individual light, which is either free standing or clips on & will go on trial shortly, to solve this problem - watch this space. If it solves the problem, we will look into this further.
We wish to make the playing of the game of Bridge, as accessible as possible, for as many of our population who would wish to play. This is not only for the benefit of our current members, but also for all our future members & visitors, who are, or will become our partners or opponents of the future, in this great game. In a cautionary note, it may also be ourselves in the future, as we never know what the future holds.
