July 11th, 2019 Unit Board Minutes

Present:  Carolyn Sabroske, Carolyn Miller, Tom Olsson, Kate Reynolds, Kristin Welter, Dee Wilson, Sally Meixner, Bonni Newton,

Absent:  Barb Maas, Gregg Walsh, Bill Wallace

President Carolyn Sabroske called the meeting to order. 

Secretary’s report:  Meeting minutes were sent via email to board members for review/approval following the last meeting and subsequently posted on the Unit website.

Treasurer’s report:  Kristin Welter audited the Unit’s financial records and discussed internal controls that could be implemented.  Financial records are in good shape.  The board reviewed a year-to-date cash flow comparison between last year and this year.  A Bridgewebs invoice was  presented for approval to pay.  Kristin moved to pay, Tom seconded.  Motion approved.

Education report:  None presented. 

OLD BUSINESS

Regional:  Total tables for the 2019 Regional was 610. Nancy Wilson submitted a written report regarding the Regional, including her suggestions for planning the 2021 Regional.  The board expressed its gratitude to Nancy and Dee for their hard work to make the Regional a success.

NLM Sectional (aka “Stars of Tomorrow”):  Flyers and “save the date” cards are available at the Bridge Center and have been distributed via email to surrounding area clubs.  The flyer is on the ACBL website.  Help is needed for set up, clean up, and food.  Kate will put sign-up sheets out.

Cornbelt Sectional:  Carolyn Sabroske and John Melberg are co-chairs.  Carolyn presented the proposed schedule for the board to review and will submit it to ACBL.

Mentoring Games:  Unit games are currently available for the mentoring games. 

Board Elections:  Suggestions for candidates for the October 11 elections are being sought.

NEW BUSINESS

Library:  The board is considering how the library might be reorganized to help enhance its usefulness to players.  

Tom moved to adjourn, Dee seconded.  Next meeting is September 9.
