13 November 2025 -Trull Bridge Group

What can I say?  Elizabeth & Lieve top again today with 70.83%, way ahead of the rest of the field.   I think it's time they received a handicap!    Next session: 20 November.    I expect members will have seen that Honiton Road will be closed for 10 days from 10 November.    By 13 November, I understand that access to Trull may be possible via Wild Oak Lane, as the works should have moved on beyond the junction by then, but this can't be guaranteed.  I suggest you find inventive ways of reaching the Hall on 13 & 20 November!

31 October 2025 - Oake SPG

Today's winners were Jennifer & Elizabeth N/S and Marion & Jane E/W, both pairs topping 60% - as did the second-placed N/S pair, Linda & Cheryl.  Well done to all.   The fixed Board was Board 4, on which West was supposed to play in 3NT (that happened four times) and go two off on good defence (that happened only once!).  A perhaps more interesting Board was Board 3, uniformly played by South, usually in Diamonds, all declarers making either 12 or 13 tricks - a bit surprising that no one bid a slam.   The two sessions in November will be special sessions at which pre-arranged deals will be bid and played, illustrating aspects of both Acol bidding and card-play technique - but mainly the latter, the first session concentrating on Declarer Play, the second on Defence.  Cost: £6 per session.   Next 'regular' session: 5 December
