5 March 2026 -Trull Bridge Group

Valerie & George top this time, with Alex & Tony in second place, each topping 60%.  Well done to both pairs.   Board 7 must have been a bit strange - no one in  more than a modest part-score, yet every declarer went down!  Next session: 19 March.  No session on 12 March because of the conflicting charity event at Oake.

20 February 2026 - Oake SPG

Way out in front today were Patricia & Terry, on 64.58%, with Bridget & Allan in second place on 58.33%.  Correction!  Top were Richard & Jonathan.   Confusion over pair numbering. The fixed Board was Board 11 on which, despite a 9-card fit in Spades and a combined 23 HCP, not a single E/W pair managed to play in 4S, or indeed in any other contract.   The Board was played every time in Diamonds by N/S.  E/W clearly competed strongly in Spades on one occasion, when N/S declared in 5D doubled, going two off.   This should have been a good result, given that E/W can make 4S, but, sadly, was a bottom instead!   (Not that 4S is easy to make - see Commentary. )  Next session: 6 March.
