Following the lifting of social distancing restrictions by the Government, we have decided to reopen the club.
We are still taking sensible precautions, such as providing hand sanitiser per table, providing disposable gloves and wipes, opening doors and windows, separating tables as much as possible and asking moving players to carry bidding boxes with them. We have asked players to wear masks when moving around however we have left it to players at a table to agree between themselves if they should be worn during play.
Most importantly, we are not providing refreshments at present until we are more certain of the situation. Also, please bring extra layers as it can get chilly towards the end of the evening.
We have run two sessions so far, with enough people turning up to make 6 tables per session. Some people have played online bridge, some have played at home, some have played no bridge at all since lockdown, however all were really pleased to be playing face to face again.
A few things to remember when playing face to face (especially for those of us who have been playing online) - it is now possible to bid out of turn, bid insufficiently, lead out of turn, revoke, scowl and kick your partner under the table - PLEASE try to avoid these as the Director is just as rusty!
As always Louise and I will always act as spare partners if required, so please come along even if you don't have a partner.
Finally we would like to ask everybody to respect others' wishes in terms of virus-related issues, as everyone has different opinions and priorities.
Hope to see you soon!
