Why is this Bridge Game called Duplicate Bridge |
Duplicate Bridge is a form of Contract Bridge played in all tournaments, in Bridge clubs, and often in the home.
It is so called because each hand is played at least twice, although by different players,
under the same conditions, with the same cards in each hand and the same dealer and vulnerability.
The object of play is not to amass the largest number of points, as in Rubber Bridge,
but rather to bid and play the hands better than all the other pairs who play them;
thus, it is immaterial whether one holds good or bad cards.
