Sussex County Contract Bridge Association
Junior Bridge Camp 21

The South Eastern Counties Junior Bridge Camp took place at Bowles Rocks on 23rd and 24th October, run by Sussex and sponsored by Kent and Surrey Bridge Associations.  It was the first face to face junior event since the lockdowns.  Nearly 40 juniors aged 8-17 attended, including the England U-16 squad led by Giorgio Provenza and enjoyed a weekend of bridge and outdoor activities in the beautiful Sussex countryside.  Did anybody else spot the albino squirrel?

The main event, the Priday Cup, was won by 1 IMP by Zane Soonawalla and Theo Sinclair from William Battersby and Lottie Bedford.  The U-14 was won by Cecilia and Aleks Birdsall even more narrowly from Millie and Verity Hallam, and the Novice section by  Ben and Hannah Cusack.

The Saturday Pairs saw the order of the top two pairs reversed, while the same two U-14 pairs managed to tie.  The Novice was won by Tristan Humphreys-Cook.   The most eagerly awaited event, the Saturday speedball, was won by Rufus Barnett and Marco Vann (NS) with a higher score than Raffy Sinclair and Andrew Bradkin (EW).

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success.
