Oxford Bridge Club runs a comprehensive bridge education programme under the banner of Oxford Bridge School. Courses are available at all levels, from beginners to more experienced players. Further details are on their website.
This is a teams-of-eight competition for Oxfordshire clubs. We have two teams: our "A" team is in Division 2 and our "B" team in Division 4. Speak to Howard Arnes (A-Team) or Roger Heath-Brown (B-team) if you would like to play for Summertown. In due course fixtures and results, as well as match reports will appear on the link on the lefthand side of this page.
Liza Furnival and Peter Finbow on winning the OBA Swiss Pairs, held on Sunday 29 November at Oxford Bridge Club. They were well ahead of the field, which included top county players.
Peter Finbow and Liza Furnival who came third in the EBU's prize draw among heat winners in Sim Pairs events over the past year. They share £200 between them.

Cliff and Moira for winning the Club's Mixed Pairs Championship for the Binyon Cup on Monday 23 November with a very fine score of 68.18%. Bridget and John Spencer were second with 63.45% with Steph and Steven very close behind on 63.26%.

Peter Finbow & Robert Gasser on a fine win in the Club with 64.14%. Trevor Dawn & Ian Pearson also did well coming second on 61.87%, with Jane Darke & Suzanne Abell third on 60.38% and Hilde McIlvenna & Peggy Manuell fourth with 60.08%. Full results as usual on the Club website.

Peggy, who is this year's winner of the Summer Ascenders' Competition. She improved the average of her ten best scores this summer by an excellent 5.42% compared with her ladder average last summer. Very well done to her and to Bridget in second place with an improvement of 4.57% and to Liza a whisker behind in third upping her average by 4.56%.

The 2015 Summer Ladder has just finished, and it's very well done to Liza on her fine win: the average of her ten best scores was 62.42%. Trevor Dawn & Irina Woods were second, with Steph & Steven Bliss in third place. Well done to them all. The winners will receive a bottle of wine each.

Ruth Kim and Isabel Pack who won the Midsummer Pairs Competition on an excellent score of nearly 64%. They received a bottle of wine each and will receive the Bygott Trophy at the next AGM.
Congratulations to John Deech, playing with visitor Andrew Lintott who won the British Spring Sim pairs event with a score of 64.77%. Second were another pair of visitors, Carles & Michiel, on 58.90%, and third were Christopher & Erica on 56.25%.
Nationally the situation has changed slightly, with John & Andrew still top, Kati and Jeremy in second place, and Carles & Michiel third. This is subject to change as more results come in.

David Bygott, who has won this year's ladder competition: the average of his ten best scores was an impressive 64.22%. He was comfortably ahead of Sandra & Krys who finished in joint second place on 60.69%. Bridget was very close behind them in fourth place with 60.05%. To take part in this competition you have to be a club member and to have played at least ten times during the relevant season.
Holly who has won the Winter 2014/2015 Ascenders Prize, by increasing the average of her ten best eligible scores from last winter by 4.07%. Kati was second with 3.52% and Suzanne was third with 3.14%.
To participate in this competition you have to be a club member and to have played at least ten times during both the Winter 2014/15 and Winter 2013/14 seasons.
John Spencer & Bridget Watson, the NS winners on a very fine 66.98% and Peter Russell & David Bygott, the EW winners on a super 68.79%. John Cecil & Betty Dick also did very well to score 62.94% EW.
Nationally, Peter and David's score has gone up a little and they are currently leading the field with almost 70%! It may be a little while before all national results come in, so let's hope they can maintain that top position.
