This is a teams-of-eight competition for Oxfordshire clubs. We have two teams: our "A" team is in Division 2 and our "B" team in Division 4. Speak to Howard Arnes (A-Team) or Roger Heath-Brown (B-team) if you would like to play for Summertown. In due course fixtures and results, as well as match reports will appear on the link on the lefthand side of this page.
Our boards are usually pre-dealt and should not be shuffled and dealt at the table. Hand records are available at the end of the session. We use wireless scoring. Play usually finishes around 10.30 -10.40pm.
EBU master points are awarded to pairs finishing in the top third. These are directly credited to your EBU account as soon as the results have been uploaded. EBU members may view their records by logging in to the EBU members area.
We have a host system, so you can arrive without a pre-arranged partner. To ensure that there is a host each week, members are asked to act as host in rotation, about once every two years. Members should make a note of the day they are due to host. To see the list of hosts click on the Calendar button in the menu on the left. The organiser is Alison Withers Green (01865-319309; email thewithersgreensATaol.com).
We have three teams in the Wessex League, and we take part in various Simultaneous Pairs and other events.
Wessex League "A" Team matches are organised by Steven Bliss (01993-811462; email blissesATwaitrose.com).
Wessex League "B" Team matches are arranged by Roger Heath-Brown (01865-361821; email rhbATmaths.ox.ac.uk).
Wessex League "C" Team matches are arranged by Ann Lee (01865-742263; email annlee20ATtalktalk.net).
Simultaneous Pairs events are organised by Sara Alden (01865-735339; email sarajaldenAThotmail.com).
Club results are usually uploaded to the website the same evening. Visit the Results page in the menu on the left and click on the appropriate date. We are very grateful to those members of the Club who freely give their time to score and direct each week.
We run a handicap event whenever there is a fifth Monday in the month. It is scored normally for Ladder and Masterpoint purposes but also scored on a handicap basis with base line provided by the results over the 12 months prior to the event. There is a bottle of wine for each of the winning pair, who must be Club Members to qualify.
We have an Internet mailing list for club members with email to receive news about results, forthcoming events, etc. Contact Bridget for details.
For bridge classes see Oxford Bridge Learning.
