Summertown Bridge Club plays duplicate bridge every Monday in the Maison Française, Norham Road, OX2 6SE. We pride ourselves on our reputation for friendliness, and welcome visitors and prospective new members, including those with relatively little experience of playing duplicate bridge. You can come along either with or without a partner, as our host system means you'll always get a game. We are EBU affiliated, use computer-dealt boards and wireless scoring, and award master points.

There is parking in Maison Française’s own car park and both metered and free parking on the nearby streets.

The club opens at about 7 pm, and players should arrive by 7.15 and be seated by 7.20 for start of play at 7.30.

Wessex League 2019-20

This is a teams-of-eight competition for Oxfordshire clubs. We have two teams: our "A" team is in Division 2 and our "B" team in Division 3.  For fixtures, results and match reports click on the link on the lefthand side of this page.  We are also participating in a daytime league.

General Information
General Information

Our boards are usually pre-dealt and should not be shuffled and dealt at the table. Hand records are available at the end of the session. We use wireless scoring. Play usually finishes around 10.30 -10.40pm.

EBU master points are awarded to pairs finishing in the top third. These are directly credited to your EBU account as soon as the results have been uploaded. EBU members may view their records by logging in to the EBU members area.

We have a host system, so you can arrive without a pre-arranged partner. To ensure that there is a host each week, members are asked to act as host in rotation, about once every two years. Members should make a note of the day they are due to host. To see the list of hosts click on the Calendar button in the menu on the left. The organiser is Alison Withers Green (01865-319309; email

We have three teams in the Wessex League, and we take part in various Simultaneous Pairs and other events.

Wessex League "B" Team matches are arranged by Roger Heath-Brown (01865-361821; email

Wessex League "C" Team matches are arranged by Ann Lee (01865-742263; email

Simultaneous Pairs events are organised by Sara Alden (01865-735339; email

Club results are usually uploaded to the website the same evening. Visit the Results page in the menu on the left and click on the appropriate date. We are very grateful to those members of the Club who freely give their time to score and direct each week.

We run a handicap event whenever there is a fifth Monday in the month. It is scored normally for Ladder and Masterpoint purposes but also scored on a handicap basis with base line provided by the results over the 12 months prior to the event. There is a bottle of wine for each of the winning pair, who must be Club Members to qualify.

We have an Internet mailing list for club members with email to receive news about results, forthcoming events, etc. Contact Bridget for details.

For bridge classes see Oxford Bridge Learning.

The club record of 81.75% was set by David and Jeremy Bygott on Thursday 11th October 2007 beating the previous record of Mark Hannon and Sean Terry from 17 November 2003 by half a percent.
