Wessex League - Promotion for the 'B' Team!
The 2010-11 Wessex League season has now finished, and the most excellent news is that our 'B' finished in a very fine second place in Division IV assuring them of promotion to Division III next year.

The 'C' team didn't finish in the bottom two or the top two but have had a lot of quiet enjoyable bridge in goodcompany.

The newly promoted 'A' team were happy to consolidate in Division II, and their 4th place was a solid achievement.

More Members' Seminars
Owing to the popularity of the themed seminars last year, we will be running six more between the months of May and October.  They are open to all members of all abilities, do not need to be pre-booked and cost just £1.00, payable on the evening of the seminar.  They will start at 6.30pm promptly at Maison Francaise and will last approximately 40 minutes. The first of these will take place on Monday 16th May on the subject: "Opening Leads -V- Suit Contracts." by David Bygott.  David is one of our most experienced and gifted players so this is not one to be missed.
Vincent Doherty RIP
We have just heard (24th March) the sad news that Vincent Doherty has died.  He was one of our most regular attendees in recent years and partnered a number of different people.  He will certainly be greatly missed, not least for his qualities as a raconteur.

Vincent was
Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering, Royal Military College of Science, Shrivenham, Wiltshire. He was 90 years old when he died.
