Summertown Bridge Club plays duplicate bridge every Monday in the Maison Française, Norham Road, OX2 6SE. We pride ourselves on our reputation for friendliness, and welcome visitors and prospective new members, including those with relatively little experience of playing duplicate bridge. You can come along either with or without a partner, as our host system means you'll always get a game. We are EBU affiliated, use computer-dealt boards and wireless scoring, and award master points.

There is parking in Maison Française’s own car park and both metered and free parking on the nearby streets.

The club opens at about 7 pm, and players should arrive by 7.15 and be seated by 7.20 for start of play at 7.30.

Bridge Education in Oxford

Oxford Bridge Club runs a comprehensive bridge education programme under the banner of Oxford Bridge School. Courses are available at all levels, from beginners to more experienced players. Further details are on their website.

Wessex League 2019-20

This is a teams-of-eight competition for Oxfordshire clubs. We have two teams: our "A" team is in Division 2 and our "B" team in Division 3.  For fixtures, results and match reports click on the link on the lefthand side of this page.  We are also participating in a daytime league.

Congratulations to: 2011
Oxfordshire Men's Pairs
Summertown members who had a successful day at the Oxfordshire Men's Pairs Championship on Sunday 30th October 2011 with Peter Russell retaining his title (with non-member Ron Quainton). Alastair Gidman and Krys Kazmierczak were third, while David & Jeremy Bygott were fourth and Krishan Jalie was fifth playing with a non-member.
Binyon Cup
Sandra & Krys on a clear win in our Club mixed pairs competition on 3rd October, nearly 4% ahead of the rest of the field. Particularly well done as Krys was directing on a night when there were frequent calls for the director.
Alison and Robert - Winners of the Sandra Landy Competition
Alison and Robert - Winners of the Sandra Landy Competition
Alison Withers Green and Robert Gasser on winning the Sandra Landy Trophies for the best non-expert pair at the Oxfordshire Congress on 18th June.

Well done also to John Deech and new member Peter Finbow on finishing seventh in the Swiss Pairs.

Midsummer Pairs Competition
Lorna Swadling and Alastair Gidman on winning our annual Midsummer Pairs Competition for the Bygott Trophy on Monday 20th June with a fine 63.07%. They took home with them a bottle of wine each. The trophy will be presented at next year's AGM.
EBU Stratified Simultaneous Pairs - 7th March
Alison Withers Green & Robert Gasser who emerged as the only Summertown pair with more than 60% when scored nationally in this event. The commentary for the hands can be found on the ECATS website here, while the National Results are here. (Click on either Summertown Blue or White according to the section you wish to view.)

County Pairs Semifinal Successes
The Oxfordshire County Pairs Semifinals (2011) took place recently and Summertown members had some considerable success in this event. Congratulations to Christopher and Erica Sheppard who came second in their semi with Rita Todd and John Deech close behind in third.  In the other semifinal David and Jeremy Bygott came 5th, Humaira Erfan-Ahmed (playing with a non-member) came sixth and Steph & Steven Bliss came 9th.
Fine results by Alastair Gidman in Easter Festival
Alastair Gidman who played with England international Espen Erichsen in the big Easter Festival in London on 23-24 April 2011 and did really well against some tough opposition to finish 5th out of 109 in the Championship Pairs and 3rd out of 76 in the Swiss Teams (with team-mates Helen Erichsen & Ehend Skjetno). Wonderful results!
BGB Winter Sim Pairs - 10th January 2011
Well done, John May and Jane Pezaro, on winning in the Club.  Nationally the results are somewhat different, partly because some of us played two boards (33 & 34) which were not sim pairs boards.  Here is a link to the national results, from which you will see that Peter Sherry & Hilde, and Roger & Paul had good national scores of approaching 62%.  Congratulations everybody!
