Sadly we have to report the passing of Bruce Heather last week.
Although Bruce and his wife Freda have not played at the centre for some time they were legendary at the table, so friendly and so much fun.
Thoughts are with Freda and her family

Sadly Margaret Owen died on Sunday. She had been ill for a while and had fought it with exceptional determination.
She played at St Georges from its launch and before that was a regular player at Hurworth.
Her most recent partner was Mike Allan and bridge at their table was always friendly.
Margaret was also an enormous support to both the team who represented the North East and the English junior squad. She travelled alongside the teams and made representative bridge as comfortable as it can be. There was always a friendly face, a haven away from the table and a cup of tea.
We have always credited some of the NE success to that. RIP Margaret.

Particular note should be given to Thursday Nights where the first Thursday each month has been given over to Teams competitions for ten months starting September 2026
