We now have a phone for members to use if they are going to be late arriving for an evening's bridge. It will be available from about 7.00 - 7.30pm on the night only.

July is proving an exceptional month in the annual competition to see who can get the best result against their NGS expectation HERE. In total 7 of the best 10 scores of the year have so far been set in July. Leading the way are Peter Cridland and Roger Cook but Bob Harrison & Alan Astell, Jacqueline Williams & Louise Peck, Brenda Aldworth & Brian Wells, Bella O'Connell & Jenny Turner, Philip Minor & Linda Spiri and Jim Fry & John Roberts have all produced excellent results. It's great to see so many new names on our leader board.
Welcome to the website of The St Albans Duplicate Bridge Club where we play competitive bridge to a good standard in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
You can come along either as a pair or without a partner as we operate a highly successful duty officer scheme. This scheme runs every week except for the regular teams competition which is held on the second Monday of every month - but please do bring your own team for these events if you wish.
There is ample parking and free tea, coffee and biscuits.
We look forward to meeting you and you don't need to contact us first - just turn up, (Before 7.20 pm please!)
Congratulations to Roger Cook & Peter Cridland who won the annual club X-IMP Pairs Championship. In a very close final result they triumphed over Gill Fisher & Susan Dow with Bob Veal and Nigel Lewis third. Thanks to all who took part and we hope you enjoyed the relatively rare format. Roger & Peter also achieved the best performance vrs NGS expectation of the year to date with an excellent + 20.20%.
It is difficult for directors and scorers to set the movement and to arrange the room if members turn up on the dot of 7.30. So can I ask you all to be there and seated by 7.20 (at least one player per pair) please? It might be that in the long run we will have to have a cut off time of 7.25/7.20 for participation in an evening's session.
I would also like to remind you that we do not have mobile phones on and in use in the hall during the evening, so please turn them off / on silent during the evening.
Thank you for your cooperation in this.
The club meets at The Jersey Farm Community Centre, Sandringham Crescent, St Albans, Herts, AL4 9RG. (please see map and travelling directions under the information button on the left of this page).
We are open every Monday including public holidays (except 24, 25 & 26 December).
Doors open at 7.15pm for a prompt please be seated by 7.20pm.
Congratulations to Harry Sack and Paul Wilson in winning The Anniversary Pairs Tophy on Monday 6th May. Their winning score of 70.50% was well ahead of the rest of the field. The runners up were Clare Garretty and Tony Hazell with 61.70%
The SADBC Team representing Hertfordshire in the National semifinal of the EBU's Garden Cities Trophy on the 27th April won 4 and lost 4 of their matches against other counties to achieve a very pleasing 3rd= place out of 9 overall; only narrowly missing out on 2nd place by the very small percentage of 2VPs.
The team consisted of Tara and Stan Harding, James Rogers and Denis King, Sara Barnett and Harry Silverman and Jane Scaysbrook and John Mathews.
We would like to encourage members to support the forthcoming HBA Events details of which can be found on the HBA website, link below:
