Note emailed to membership 16th June 2023

I write again further to my email of  June 3rd 2023

• Thursday June 8th the County Mixed Pairs - was a very successful event  played at Stafford Bridge Club with 9 tables see Mixed Pairs Results with players from several SSCBA clubs taking part.
• Sunday July 9th Midlands Inter-County Mixed Teams (ie 2 mixed pairs) on RealBridge at 2 p.m.  see https://www.bridgewebs.com/staffsshrops/MCOL%20Mixed%20Teams%20Poster.htm. Not too late to enter.
• Every Wednesday at 6:45 for 7 p.m. SSCBA online BBO bridge session.  This started during Covid, should it continue now that the clubs have opened back up? Use it or lose it.  Show your support by turning up at the table!  Please contact John Withers, jwithersx@gmail.com,  if you would like to join this group.
• Website Options: In January the membership list on the county website was updated as the list had not been updated for some years.  To take advantage of some the features offered to members on the website individuals need to select their preferred opt in/opt out requirements via the “Members Only” button (top right on the SSCBA home page https://www.bridgewebs.com/staffsshrops/) defaults today are generally “opt out”, historically they were opt in. 

  • To take advantage of the “Personal Analysis” feature I propose to set this generally to “opt in” unless individuals contact me before 15/06/2023 to exclude them personally since the information can already be seen in another format on the results pages. 15/06/23 has come and gone and so I have today taken this action for those whom should have received the email on 3rd June and have not asked to be excluded.  The names appearing on the list are those that have taken part in SSCBA events over the last 2 years. If your name not there and you feel it should be please contact me  webmaster.staffordbridgeclub@gmail.com.

  • The main items you might like to “opt in” to are showing your name and supplying your mobile phone number so other members could make contact with you, that is help create a members telephone directory.  A few (still only fingers of one hand needed to count) have now opted to appear in this list but it would be good to see a comprehensive list! • Next event on the calendar is the Midlands Counties Challenge Bowl hosted this year by Warwickshire on 25th June, 
• Current email addresses,  A number of members do not have a current email address on the system, of course they will not receive this.  A little talk at the table might encourage those who do not have a valid email address set up on the system to enter one, again I am happy to help.
