In the example above [it was a real board at our club)
each pair is competing against 4 other pairs.

If you beat a pair you get 2 points, if you draw you get
1 point for every pair you draw with.

SO, a TOP [8 here] is if you do better than all the other pairs.

Pair 1 v 21  N/S got 0 because every pair did better.
             E/W got 8 which is 4 * 2 as no other East/West did better.

Pair 2 v 23  N/S got 8 as their score N/S was the only 1470, therefore they got 8.

Pair 3 v 25  N/S scored 2 because the other N/S pairs all did better
except the first who "gave away" points to E/W

Pair 4 v 22
and  5 v 24   N/S they beat two pairs N/S and drew with one, so that
is 2x2 + 1  which is 5

E/W score the difference between 8 ( a top) and whatever N/S actually scored.
The two columns must equal 8 if 5 pairs played.

The Boards we use.

We have been tidying up our boards as some of them were labelled incorrectly.

I created the table below to help in this process and so it might prove useful again for anyone.

WIKI offers full guidance, but basically, boards 1-16 are replicated for 17-32.

We seldom use more than 28, so 32 boards are sufficient at this point for our needs.
