Minutes of the Southam Bridge Club AGM held on Wednesday February 6th 2019
The meeting was quorate with 32 members and 2 guests present.
- Apologies were received from: Stewart Aylward, Sue Adlard, Katherine Stanley, Anna and David Wilson, Ann and Clive Watson, David and Linda Glover and Nicole Percival.
- The minutes for the 2018 AGM were accepted.
It was noted that the training for directors was still outstanding.

The chairman gave thanks to Mary Ann Rust and Gwynne Tucker-Brown who were retiring from the committee and he thanked them for their contributions as committee members.
- Treasurer’s Report
A separate sheet showing the Receipts and Payments for 2018 is available on our website. The treasurer advised that the proposal was that there was no increase in fees as the club was in a good financial position and they remain at £2 for members and £3 for guests.
5. Appointment of Auditor
The chairman gave thanks to Stewart Aylward who was prepared to stand again as Auditor.
6. Committee for 2019
The current committee members Tony Reeves (chairman), Peter Morris (membership secretary), Fliss Hall (treasurer ) and Colin Davison had all agreed to stand again and Sarah Lear and Diana Wright had agreed to join the committee, the latter as secretary. Both approved by a show of hands.
7. Stand-By Scheme
The chairman advised that 39 weeks of the year had been covered by the stand-by scheme but he encouraged all Members to volunteer to be the stand by at least once a year.
8. New Website
Colin Davison who had set up the new website encouraged Members to explore the full facilities it offered including the links to other relevant websites. The hand of the week will be a regular feature depending on the scorer. It was noted that the duplicate entry for Robert Small can be deleted.
9.Membership of the EBU
No proposal was received.
10. General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
The chairman talked through the club’s approach to GDPR which would ensure they were adhering to the new regulations and he circulated a detailed note. He highlighted the club’s privacy notice which would be available on the club’s website and the steps being taken to protect the personal data being held on its Members. He requested all Members to sign the sheet being circulated to indicate their acceptance or otherwise for their details to be kept and to receive emails from the committee.
11.Future dates
No Bridge on March 14th 2019 due to the Cheltenham Festival.
The Christmas Party will be held on Wednesday December 11th.
The 2020 AGM will be held on 5th February.
