We have had members comment about improving our scoring equipment.  So I would like to let you know what the committee have been looking into and what our thoughts are for making these improvements. Over the last few months, we have looked at the two options that are available.  These are ArcScorer and Bridgemate 3.  Both devices make it easier to use and to see the screen for all at the table.  I am sure there are many of you who have used ArcScorer at other clubs.  I doubt if there are many that have tried the Bridgemate 3.  Four of us from the committee went to South Bucks Bridge Club and tried them for the first time.  We have also used ArcScorer, so that we could compare.

• Bridgemate 3 cost is £3154
• ArcScorer cost is £2895

We have sufficient funds in our account to cover either option.  Although Bridgemate 3 is slightly dearer, we have decided that we would prefer to upgrade to this system.  The charging of the devices is only every 2 - 3 months rather than 2 - 3 weeks, and come with a much easier charging tray to put the devices in.  With ArcScorer, there is an annual license fee of £250.  With Bridgemates, there is no annual fee.  We have been using our existing Bridgemates for 10 years plus and there has never been a problem.  If you are interested in more details, then please look up Bridgemate 3 on your computer.  They look similar to our existing device, but all screen rather than a keypad.  They are slightly larger but no bigger than the 8" tablets that we would be using with ArcScorer.

I hope this information will mean that we will not spend too long discussing item 7 at the AGM.
