Evening 16th March
Big mistake by your scorer on Board 3 this evening! Sitting West with 20 points, 8 top Hearts and 10 certain tricks and a void in Diamonds, I made the mistake of opening 2NT, Partner passed with only one point and the opposition rattled off several diamond winners. With hindsight I should have opened 2 Clubs, requiring a response from partner, or even just gone straight to 4 Hearts... No slams bid this evening, and Elaine topped the leader board for the second week running!

Evening 2nd March
Congratulations to Richard and Margaret who managed to be top of the leader board for the second week running. Only one pair, the ambitious Elaine and Peter, dared to bid a slam this week. They bid 6 Spades on both Board 6 and Board 22 and were one off in both cases. Credit to Pam and Joyce (sitting N/S) for an excellent sacrifice bid of 4 Clubs (down 2) on Board 14, which gave them maximum points, as on all other tables E/W comfortably made 4 Hearts.

Evening 23rd February
Quite a few game contracts in the offing this week. Those bidding 3NT on Board 4 (as N/S) and on Board 3 (as E/W) were rewarded with the few extra points to pip those who stayed in a suit. Slams were bid and made by several N/S pairs on Board 5 and E/W pairs on Board 23. Congratulations to Margaret and Richard for topping the table this week.
