This week's hands were generally pretty slim pickings with 16 out of the 24 Boards yielding 200 points or fewer per sitting! Robert & Olwen, Chris & Joan and Matthew & Steve were the only pairs who managed to bid and make four game contracts over the evening. Boards 7 and 8 provided the only real respite from part-scores (at least for the N/S pairs!). On Board 7 all NS pairs made 13 tricks, but only Matthew & Steve bid a slam, and, after last week's experience, Steve was loathe to bid 7NT again, so settled on 6NT! On Board 8 all NS pairs found a small slam EXCEPT for Matthew and Steve who stopped at 4 Hearts.
NOTE: This year's AGM will be held on 15th June at 6pm, followed by pairs bridge from 7pm.

7 tables this week.. and potential for more! A mix up with the boards means that this week's results are only provisional.. But it's not the results that matter.. It's the fun of the game! Plenty of unusual hands and several slams bid and made this week.
Our Director had the dubious pleasure of playing in 7 No Trumps on Board 22, for the first time "in over 30 years of playing Bridge". Unfortunately down two when the finesses didn't work.

Hot competition between Elaine and Peter and Mary and Dick this evening! Both pairs bid and made a slam (on Boards 20 and 9 respectively). Elaine and Peter emerging overall winners. Congratulations to Matthew and Steve for making a sacrifice bid of 5 Clubs on Board 23 (down 2) to ensure Rex and Roger couldn't enjoy a certain 4 Spades contract! It can be a cruel sport sometimes!... That's why we love it!
