Extra time on your hands this year?  Would you like to try a new card game this Autumn?  RBC will be starting FREE bridge lessons for beginners in September 2021.  There will be a taster session on Saturday 11th September at 10am which will provide a gentle introduction to this great game.  Why not try it?  you have nothing to lose.

Sessions also available for returners and improvers.  Message me or ring me on 0776619229 /

Rugby Bridge Club is now on Facebook.  If you use Facebook and would like to join the RBC group please let Maria Smyth ( know and she will add you to the group.

Welcome to Rugby Bridge Club

Face to Face Bridge

Your committee is pleased to announce that we shall be returning to playing Face to Face Bridge, for one session per week wef Wednesday, 4th August, 2021, subject to any last-minute changes that might be imposed by the Government!

ALL members to BOOK their place at a session on our Bridgewebs website. Only one member of a partnership needs to book, they add their partner at the same time!  If you have any problems with booking, please ring Wendy Pattinson, who has volunteered to help you out!

Details are as follows:

Wednesday evenings, 7.00pm start at Hillmorton Ex-Servicemen’s Club, lounge.

Start date: Wednesday 4th August, 2021 (Booking is particularly important for this session)

This was the former Rogers Hall session but is now open to all club members to attend and it will be a full ‘Pay to Play’ session, with the results uploaded to the EBU, which will award Club Master Points and affect your NGS rating.  However, it will still be a slower session, with only 18 - 22 boards being played.  Initially scoring will be carried out using the ‘old’ Bridgemates, but it is hoped to migrate to using the ArcScorer tablets very quickly.

For safety reasons there will be a maximum capacity (to start with) of 7 full tables (14 pairs), therefore a first come first served rule will apply with regard to bookings (these are timed on the web site).  Hand sanitiser will be provided on each table, but beware of getting the cards sticky please!  We would recommend the wearing of face coverings, but this is your choice and obviously, and, if you don’t feel well, DON’T COME!

For this ‘our re-opening night’, on the 4th August, each player will be able to order a complimentary drink from the bar.

The remainder of our ‘Face to Face’ sessions are ‘on hold’ until further notice, but will restart as soon as possible.  We will email everyone as soon as we know when these will restart.  Our current online sessions will continue as normal, Tuesday evening, Thursday morning and Friday afternoon.

Congratulations to Ruff Diamonds who won Division 1 and Nova who won Division 2.  We'll have one more session and then it will be up to the Rugby & District Bridge League to decide how we continue.  This session will run from mid-July to the end of September.  The structure of the leagues will be:

Division 1

Ruff Diamonds, Discards, Gambits, Frogs, Nova, Hands Ace Spades

Division 2

Gremlins, Bees Knees, Electronic Royals, The Latecomes

Please let Sue Osborne or Chris Malthouse know if you have a team that would like to join our league.

Any member who has not responded but would like to attend please inform David Hicks (  The invite is also open to members partner.

After all the disappointment of not being able to play F2F bridge for over 12 months it is an ideal opportunity to meet old and new members of the club and we look forward to members  taking advantage of Jenny and Roberts kind offer
