Bridge Room Protocols

Always leave the bridge room as you would like to find it.   All glasses and cups are to be placed on the trolley by the main door and not left on the side tables.  All rubbish is to be thrown away in the bins.

Before you close your bidding box please ensure that the bidding cards are in order.   If one is missing please replace it from the spare box of bidding cards that is kept in the cupboard.  Please return the bidding boxes to its crate in a tidy fashion.  Return all pencils to the pencil boxes.  If using packs of cards please put them back tidily in the cupboard.

No eating in the bridge room.  Or if you cant resist the biscuit or equivalent when you buy your coffee please make sure that your hands are clean before you touch the cards.  Avoid at all times crisps and nuts.

Always, always make your lead before you write down the contract.

When playing duplicate please do not discuss the last hand played at the previous table as you join the other table.  

Never chastise your partner at the bridge table.  Save the "Why didn't you" questions until you are discussing the hands at home, over the phone the next day or in the bar or on the journey home etc.  Hard one I know.  

If someone bids out of turn or leads out of turn always put your hand up and ask for the director.  Explain the problem and let him/her be the only one speaking as he/she corrects the problem.
