Ripwood Awaydays |
Based on the highly positive feedback we received after the very popular ASHOVER PARISH HALL event last year, we are planning to return there with our next two competitions on SATURDAY, 26 JULY and SUNDAY, 5 OCTOBER, both including a delicious full buffet lunch from the local Farm Shop.
Again, following feedback, play will be limited to a MAXIMUM of 36 boards, providing us with a well-rounded competition without making the playing sessions too long.
Bookings are now being taken for 26 JULY and the cost per person is £17 payable on the day. The aim of both clubs is to stage these events on a broadly break-even basis and although Ashover hire charges are slightly more expensive than some other venues we believe the wonderful, peaceful village location is well worth it.
Play will start at 10.00am and conclude around 4.15pm with a one-hour break for lunch. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.
Please book as soon as possible by emailing either Richard or Lyndon (richardghorsley@outlook.com or lyndonbdavies@gmail.com )
We’d like to get even more people involved so feel free to tell others. In the meantime, thanks for helping to make these events as enjoyable as they are.

The last match in the 1st Division has been played. Congratulations to Team B (Pat Parkin, Jackie McNeil, Dave Burns, Gary Watson) on winning with 10pts. In 2nd place was Team A (Richard Horsley, Alan Kenny, Alastair McCance, Colin Butt, Lorna Brierley) on 8 pts. Team C (Wilson Howden, Jeff Calladine, John Shaw, Kathryn Shaw) were 3rd, also on 8 pts but just 4 imps behind Team A.
In the second division, Team H (Clive & Co), though narrowly losing their last match, still have a commanding lead. Theoretically, though not likely, they could be caught by the 2nd placed Team I (Dove & Co) who have one match to play.
