No bridge on Thursday May 2nd

There is no bridge  on Thursday May 2nd. The venue, Pentrich village hall, is being used as a polling station.  Back to normal the following week

Tournament at Chesterfield Golf Club - Walton - Friday May 3rd

Many of you will have attended one of these friendly tournaments organised by Lyndon and Richard previously.  The latest one is on Friday May 3rd at Chesterfield Golf Club - Walton  (Matlock Road, Walton, Chesterfield S42 7LA ).  

Tea and Coffee is served from 9:30 with play starting at 10:00am.

Lunch is at about 13:00 and consists of a main course and desert. Menu choices to follow.

Play is expected to end at 16:30

Entries in pairs, cost £22.50p per head.. Please advise Lyndon or Richard if you need a partner.

JEAN HOUGH HANDICAP PAIRS

Congratulations to our chair, Janet Hobbs, and Glyn MacArthur on winning the Jean Hough Handicap pairs held at Pentrich on Thursday December 7th with a handicap adjusted score of 57.5%. Well done to Stuart Barlow and David Burns who came 2nd (51.4%).

Harold Westhead Competition

The 10th and final round of the Harold Westhead Competition was played this last Monday (20/11). Congratulations to Jill and Ray, who were clear winners  with 60.28%. Second were Richard and Alan with 58.42%.

Club Pairs Championship

Congratulations to John Gould and Glyn McArthur on winning the Club pairs championship with an overall score of 61.9%.

Well done to Gary Watson and David Burns on coming second (57.3%)

Introduction

Ripley Bridge Club is affiliated to the English Bridge Union and the Derbyshire Contract Bridge Association. We hold 3 sessions of bridge each week, on Monday and Thursday Evenings, and Wednesday mornings.

On Monday evenings we meet at St. Joseph's Church Hall,  94, Butterley Hill,  Ripley DE5 3LW and on the Thursday evening we meet at Pentrich Village Hall, Main Road, Pentrich DE5 3RE

Play starts at 7pm.  Please try and be seated for 6:50 pm.

On Wednesday mornings, we meet at Pentrich Village Hall, Main Road, Pentrich DE5 3RE  from 9:45 to 12:30.  This is a Beginner/Improver session of supervised practice, instruction and play held under the direction of Phil Upton, MEBUTA. The session comprises a short introduction to a topic of interest, followed by duplicate on a 'Draw for Partner' basis so singles are welcome.

Start time

For the evening sessions, please be seated for 6:50 pm. 

This allows time for assigning the host, determining the number of tables and the movement,

setting up the wirless scoring system and making announcements, so that play can commence promptly at 7 pm.
