35 members gathered at the West Retford Hotel on 2^nd August for a delicious buffet meal followed by a duplicate bridge competition for the Joyce Irvine Trophy. This was our annual charity event, once again in support of The Bassetlaw Hospice. Attendees included four ex–Busbridge Bridge Club members who travelled up from Godalming in Surrey to be with us and enjoy the day, meeting many faces in person for the first time. The buffet concluded with a celebratory cake and a presentation to Mike and Daphne Coggles in recognition of their long service with the Club, with their bridge lessons for newcomers and their contribution to the advancement of the game of bridge.

The Trophy was won by Daphne Coggles and Judith Phillips, with Julia Staniforth and Roger Stock in second place [see results]. With donations and a raffle, the event raised over £500 for The Hospice with Judith completing the double by winning one of the two main raffle prizes. The other was won by Bernard Plumb.
