   Melbourne Cup Day 2026

for a day of fun, bridge, laughs and nibbles.

Sweeps will be available from 9:45
(please bring small notes and coins)

Bridge will commence at 10:30 until lunch at 12:00
BYO lunch.

Play recommences at 12:30 until 2:00
when there will be games, snacks and beverages.

Lucky door prizes.

Cost is $15 including your game.

Members - please note that annual subscriptions fell due on 30th September. The cost this year is $70 as per a motion passed in 2024 that fees include payment on your behalf to Bridge NSW and ABF, which this year total $49.70, plus PMHBC fee of $20 rounded to the nearest $5. Last year the club subsidised the difference but due to governing bodies increases this year, we feel that it is necessary to increase the annual fee. We appreciate your understanding. 

To be eligible to vote at the AGM in November, you must be a financial member.

Tues 27th - Australia-wide Restricted Pairs <300MP's

Well, that's it for another congress successfully completed. There was very serious competition as well as much laughter and, though tiring, many happy players at the end of each day.

The final results were :
Sat Open Pairs 1st - Frances Gaunt & Rod Roark (Coffs Harbour); 2nd - Margaret Boniface & Judy Scott (Great Lakes) and Under 300MP's 1st - Neah Williams & James Parker (Coffs Harbour); 2nd - Jennifer Bissett & Neil McMaster (Newcastle).

Sun Open Teams 1st - Peter Briscoe, Sam Kebby, Carol Briscoe & Saima King (PMHBC); 2nd - Nerida Gillies, Sandy Carter, Anne Small& Loraine Neville (Peninsula) and Under 300MP's - Carol Parker, Sharon Versteege, Anne Meyer and Kevin Hughes (Community Bateau Bay). 

The compliments flew thick and fast for the work done by the catering team with some declaring it the best of all. Sincere thanks to all those who contributed by baking, shopping, spending hours in the kitchen to clean and serve; the dealers and especially Tom the convenor, who has to deal with all the logistics of participants and balancing table numbers.
