Bookings

PMH Bridge Club is happy to welcome visitors.

To make our Directors job a little easier, bookings are preferred for all players and can be made online until 8.00a.m. on the day of play. However, we will always accommodate walk-ins who arrive by 12.30.
If you are unable to book online, or you wish to make a late entry, call Carolyn on 0404 98 98 95.

To make a booking, click on the appropriate date, enter your name and then confirm your entry. You are then offered the option of adding your partner or requesting one.

Master Points Look-up

Library - a resource for all levels of player.

Just a reminder that our club offers a wide range of bridge titles in our library. For anyone who is looking to improve certain areas of their play, whether bidding, defence or strategies there will be something to assist all levels of player. Books and several CD's suitable for Novice / Intermediate can be easily found in a separate, marked section. The majority of titles will suit Intermediate / Advanced players. Please feel free to utilise this facility following the instructions posted on the bookshelf door.
ALSO available to borrow is the latest issue of the Australian Bridge magazine - find it in the red folder on lower shelf of bookcase.

The Membership Database is available online and Members are able to login to the Members Area.

IF YOU DON'T READ HOW TO DO IT BELOW FIRST, YOU WILL INITIALLY FAIL...IT IS NOT INTUITIVE.

Please read the Website Help article 'Set Up Member Login' FIRST.

When you do get access to the Members Area, click on the 'Account Tab' and please check that all your details are correct. If not, make change and click 'Save'.

Please complete the Emergency Contact Details so we know who to contact in the event of a medical episode at the club.

If you have a small portrait you can upload it to appear with your results (head and shoulders) - passport photo or similar.

Things to bear in mind

Just a few things to keep in mind at the bridge table.
It would be appreciated if you remove lolly wrappers, tissues etc from side tables. If you eat at the tables - clean up after yourself. Everyone deserves to come to a clean and tidy venue. We engage a cleaner one day per week and need your help to maintain a standard of cleanliness.

Give the Director your attention and DON'T remove cards from the holder until you are given the go ahead.

Please leave bidding cards on the table until the first lead is made.

Don't argue with your opposition - call the Director - they need to keep in practice.

If the Director is called and makes a ruling with which you disagree, don't argue. Please remember they are volunteers and human so can make a mistake - and you have the right to appeal. This must be done via the Director who will refer it to the Appeals Committee.

Promotion of lessons

We have booked a table in Port Central for Wednesday 25th and Fri 27th February as well as Thursday 5th March to promote lessons. Volunteers are required to "man" the site and provide information to any interested parties. We're not asking you to approach people. If you're available please contact Carolyn.

Regional Swiss Pairs

Another successful event has concluded and we'd like to congratulate all the winners and everyone who participated in a successful day. Our club fared very well with Murray Booth and Denise Strain taking 1st place in section A, followed by Rod Roark and Frances Gaunt (v) in 2nd and Carol Briscoe and David Christian in 3rd.
In section B, 1st went to Celia Kershaw and Clare Blake; 2nd Margaret Jordan and Sandy Mahon and 3rd were Julie Barker and Diana Whiteley (v).
Once again a huge thank you to the catering committee who ensured that no-one was hungry by supplying another delicious assortment of goodies.
Also, well done to our organiser, Tom Meakin and director John McIlraith without whose efforts the day wouldn't happen. (See photos of winners below).

Bridge lessons & supervised play

Friday 13th March sees the start of this years lessons. If you know of anyone - family member or friend who would like to learn this intriguing game, please get them to contact Carolyn on 0404 989 895 or Tom on 0439 198 751. First lesson is free then $5 per lesson and $20 to join as a student member to cover insurances etc.

We will also be re-introducing supervised play on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 - 12:00 commencing on 10th March. Cost will be $5 unless you are staying for afternoon session. Bookings are essential (as for regular play) as a minimum of 2 tables are required. Single players can book - you don't need a partner.

MyABF

All members are encouraged to sign-up to MyABF which is the updated means of booking to attend congresses. This format can also be used in the future for other purposes including mail and it is preferable for all members to be registered. Please use the link https://www.myabf.com.au/
Don't worry - we aren't changing anything immediately, but please help us by completing your enrolment. We hope that we will soon be able to offer members the option of paying table fees using Myabf credits. If you are having trouble signing up to Myabf, please bring in your phone or tablet and ask someone who has signed up to help. The initial sign up has to be done on their website, not the App. Just bring along your ABF number too.
