Web Site

The Membership Database is available online and Members are able to login to the Members Area.

IF YOU DON'T READ HOW TO DO IT BELOW FIRST, YOU WILL INITIALLY FAIL...IT IS NOT INTUITIVE.

Please read the Website Help article 'Set Up Member Login' FIRST.

When you do get access to the Members Area, click on the 'Account Tab' and please check that all your details are correct. If not, make change and click 'Save'.

Please complete the Emergency Contact Details so we know who to contact in the event of a medical episode at the club.

If you have a small portrait you can upload it to appear with your results (head and shoulders) - passport photo or similar.

There is also a Website Help Page for 'Bookings' and 'Find a Partner' if you are having problems.

Members, please be aware that we will be adjusting our starting time to 12:30 from Friday May 1st. Both partners are required to be seated no later than 12:15.

Also check your calendars regularly to see which days you are booked to play as we have had several members not turn up recently which is a great inconvenience to our directors.

Club Qualifying Events (CQE)

Bridge NSW logo full blue and red with wordmark landscape

Bridge NSW have introduced a new series of State Teams and Pairs events - referred to as CQE's (Club Qualifying Events). These attract DOUBLE RED points for those who qualify. There will be three divisions - Open, Under Grand Master and Under National Master and only people meeting those requirements (see appropriate day) will be able to play on those days. We continue to welcome all players on other days as usual.

As your club will be charged $2.50pp per session for participation, we have followed their suggestion to raise table money on those days. Committee has agreed on $7 and would ask you to bring the correct money with you.

Club Pairs Open Champions

With the second event in the Club Pairs Championships completed, it's time to congratulate Sue Lindner & David Christian on a great win. In hot pursuit were Saima King & Anne Rutter and Denise Strain & Chris Bell. We hope all competitors enjoyed the challenge and are looking forward to the next opportunity to show their skills.

Intermediate Club Pairs Winners

Congratulations are in order for the winners of the Club Pairs (Int) competition - Susanne Hollis & Deb Carmichael. In 2nd place were Sandra Jackson & Bill Ryan followed by Marg Jordan & Sandy Mahon. Well done to all - the event was hotly contested by an ever improving field. Great work everyone!

MyABF

All members are encouraged to sign-up to MyABF which is the updated means of booking to attend congresses. This format can also be used in the future for other purposes including mail and it is preferable for all members to be registered. Please use the link https://www.myabf.com.au/
Don't worry - we aren't changing anything immediately, but please help us by completing your enrolment. We hope that we will soon be able to offer members the option of paying table fees using Myabf credits. If you are having trouble signing up to Myabf, please bring in your phone or tablet and ask someone who has signed up to help. The initial sign up has to be done on their website, not the App. Just bring along your ABF number too.

Obey the rules

Hospital regulations require a wheelchair for patients being discharged. However, while working as a student nurse, I found one elderly gentleman already dressed and sitting on the bed with a suitcase at his feet, who insisted he didn’t need my help to leave the hospital.

After a chat about rules being rules, he reluctantly let me wheel him to the elevator.

On the way down I asked him if his wife was meeting him.
‘I don’t know,’ he said ‘She’s still upstairs in the bathroom changing out of her hospital gown.’

Emergency Contact Register

Port Macquarie Hastings Bridge Club keeps a members Emergency Contact Register for use in the event of a medical episode or other emergency at the club. This will allow Directors or Committee Members to quickly identify an emergency contact for the player. Please log in to the Members Area and complete these details on your Profile. (These details are Emergency Contact Name; Relationship to yourself; Phone and/or Mobile number of the Contact Person). If you are having trouble, please contact us.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO: Check your information and update any details which may have changed.

Club Membership Fees

THE QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED: WHERE DO OUR MEMBERSHIP FEES GO?
This your membership fee is $60.00 per year (increasing to $70 next September).
$43.30 ($3.30 subsidised this year) is paid by us, on your behalf, to the NSWBA and the ABF making you a full member of these organisations and allowing you to accrue masterpoints. You will only pay this amount annually through whichever is your “Home” club. Next year's ABF fee will increase to $26.60 and Bridge NSW at this point is $20 but may increase.

The remaining $20 is an annual membership fee to our club, assisting us to pay council rates, electricity, insurance, maintenance, security, cleaning, fire inspection compliance certificate, gardening, supplies for kitchen and bathroom as well as costs all clubs incur for purchase of cards, boards, stationery, dealing machines etc.
