Video Bridge sessions on Thursday evening and on Wednesday afternoon are run within OBC's virtual club on BBO. There will be a charge for each session of BB$4 (about £3.20). From this amount, OBC get some money after deducting BBO charges and the normal charge due to the EBU. Click here for instructions on buying BB$. 

If you don't have a BBO name yet then you'll need to create a BBO account. It's a good idea to play some practice sessions on BBO before you start playing in one of the weekly pairs events. See here for some help with this.  There are training sessions available too - click here for details.

To play in an OBC online event you need to have registered your BBO name with OBC; those who have already played in one of the club's online pairs events will already be registered. Please see here for further details..

For video bridge, we ask players to prebook their places so that we can send out invitations to the Zoom video conference that accompanies the session.  We ask that where possible you book for yourself and your partner. You may also book an individual place and we will try to match up partnerships where we can. We ask for email addresses of those who are playing so that everyone receives the video conference details; we ask for phone numbers so that we have a way of contacting you if you get disconnected during play. Click here to book your place at any one of the video bridge sessions. 

Each player will receive an acknowledgement by email when the booking is complete. This email has a link in it which allows you to join the video conference for the session.

On the day, please join the Zoom session at least 15 minutes before the play is due to start.  To join the video conference click on the grey button in the confirmation email marked "View online event". You will be taken to another page where you can click on the BLUE BOX marked "Join Zoom Meeting".

So that the video host may more easily move you to and between breakout rooms, please align your zoom and BBO names Zoom_rename.pdf.

You must also login to BBO at least 10 minutes before the competition is due to start to guarantee your place. To find the event, log into BBO, go to 'Competitive', then 'All Tournaments', and either scroll down until you find it, or type "Oxford" into the search box. The host will be vEBU201048 and the event will be called something like '#2058_Pairs_OXFORD_Thu_Eve_Video_Gentle_Duplicate'.

Events become visible on BBO 2 hours before they are due to start. Check that your partner is also logged in and then click on the event and invite them to play. When they've accepted the invitation you will both be registered in the tournament and the tournament name will turn yellow. This is the point that you will be asked to pay BB$4 each.

The tournament will automatically start at the due time when you will be taken to your first table. Please do not start playing until the Director/Video host asks you to, this will enable the breakout rooms to be opened.

The Thursday evening Video Gentle Duplicate will start play at 7:00 and usually play 6 rounds of 3 boards at the rate of 27 minutes per round.

The event name will be similar to '#2058_Pairs_OXFORD_Thu_Eve_Video_Gentle Duplicate'. The number at the front is different each week.

Masterpoints will be awarded and NGS will be processed provided there are at least 5 tables in play. Results will appear on the website after the event has finished.
