North American Pairs Championships

The club is one of the hosts for the North American Pairs Flight B championships for District 4 on October 6 at 10:00.  It will be a one-day two session event.

Directions from Turnpike Exit 31

From the turnpike entrance continue southeast on Sumneytown Pike (route 63) for 3.2 miles to Church Road. 

Turn left and continue on Church Road for a little over half a mile to Wissahickon Avenue (first traffic signal) and turn right. 

Make the first right turn into the parking lot of the building on your right.

Lunch will be provided between sessions. 

Outside the Club

About half a mile up (NE) Church road is Pennbrook Plaza.  It contains China King, a chinese take-out; PrimoHoagies, with Italian specialty sandwiches, and the Smokehouse Tavern, with American pub fare. 

About half a mile down (SW) Church road is Royal Farms.  They have takeout sandwiches, specializing in chicken.  South of there on Sumneytown Pike is Boston Style Pizza, which has various sandwiches and pizza.  Further south, in North Wales, is the Empanades Lab.  North of there on Sumneytown Pike, across from the Dunkin is West Point Deli (inside the Marathon gas station) with a variety of deli sandwiches.

Further north on Sumneytown Pike is the North Penn Market Place.  It has a Weis Market, a McDonalds, a Dairy Queen, Oki Sushi, and Italian Delights (pizza and sandwiches).  There is a Wawa across the street from the Market Place.

Further north on Sumneytown Pike is Pudge's, a classic cheesesteak and hoagie place.

The Pavilion in Lansdale (443 S. Broad) has a Saladworks, a Manhattan Bagel, a Subway, a Burger King and a Wendy's.  It also has Hong Kong Kitchen and Palermo's Pizza.

North Wales

  • Tex Mex Connection, 201 E. Walnut, long-time restaurant with tex-mex fare and tequilas.
  • Green Fork, 115 S. Main, BYOB with vegetarian and vegan options

West Point

  • There are a large number of restaurants in and around the Montgomeryville Mall, including an Outback Steakhouse, a Bonefish Grill, and Pumpernick's Deli
Hotel Info

The closest hotel to the bridge club is the Homewood Suites (1200 Pennbrook Parkway, Lansdale, PA).  It is a little over half a mile from the club and is adjacent to the Pennbrook train station (part of SEPTA).  This is the one to use if you are using mass transit.  It is approximately $145 per night.

 

There are two hotels near the Lansdale exit (exit 31) of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.  They are about 4 miles from the club.  These are probably the easiest to drive to.

  • The Holiday Inn (1750 Sumneytown Pike, Kulpsville, PA) is approximately $165 per night.
  • The Courtyard by Marriott Lansdale (1737 Sumneytown Pike, Kulpsville, PA) is approximately $215 per night.

 

There are several hotels in the Montgomeryville area (near Montgomeryville Mall).  They are about 4 miles from the club.  These are closer to shopping and dining choices.

  • Quality Inn Montgomeryville (678 Bethlehem Pike, Montgomeryville, PA) is approximately $145 per night.
  • Courtyard by Marriott Montgomeryville (544 DeKalb Pike, North Wales, PA) is about $205 per night.
  • Hampton Inn Montgomeryville (121 Garden Golf Blvd, North Wales, PA) is about $200 per night.
  • Staybridge Suites Montgomeryville (119 Garden Golf Blvd, North Wales, PA) is about $170 per night.
  • Rodeway Inn (969 Bethlehem Pike, Montgomeryville, PA) is about $95 per night.

 

There are quite a few hotels if you want to go further afield.  The Valley Forge area is about 10 miles away and has several hotels.  The Philadelphia area is about 25 miles away and has many hotels.
