North Devon Congress Swiss Teams Sunday 28th February 2021

Registration opens from 8.30am until 10.00am - Please register as soon after 8.30am as you can.

This will allow time for any issues to be resolved before the start.

The format will be seven 6-board matches with a break of approximately one hour after four matches.

It is the captain’s responsibility to ensure that the following process is followed and that all four players are online and ready to play by 10.25am.

If the tournament starts with a missing pair, it may not be possible to admit them later.

The registration process may be different from previous Swiss teams that you may have played in previously.

1. Captains should arrange for all team members to be online at an agreed time.

2. One player from each pair – the ‘leader’– should search for ‘North’ or ‘Devon’ to find the correct tourney – ‘North Devon Swiss Teams’.

The leaders then select this tourney and invite their partners who will receive an invite, which they should accept.

3. When both pairs have registered, the next stage can only be completed by one of the ‘leaders’-

Select the event and click on ‘Select Teammates’. Please note, the ‘select teammates’ option is not available on the app so if you are using a tablet you will need to login at www.bridgebase.com using your browser.

Then, the leader should find their teammates in the list of registered pairs, and click INVITE next to their entry, see below.

An invite will be generated and needs to be accepted by a player from that pair.

If the wrong player tries to do this you will see the following error message.

When the process has been completed successfully, you will see your team together under ‘Entries’ as follows

Ideally, pairs should upload a convention card to BBO, which should be available to opponents during the round and include agreements for bidding and carding. 

In any case, at the beginning of each round, the pair should ‘pre-announce’ their basic bidding system and carding arrangements.

‘Undos’ are allowed during bidding but not during play.
