Welcome to New Hertford Bridge Club

Welcome to New Hertford Bridge Club's website.

We are a friendly club and play duplicate bridge on Tuesday evenings in the Waterford Village Hall. Sessions start promptly at 19:30. You should be seated by 19:20 in order to allow time to set the movement. If you are unavoidably delayed call 07842 899603

Visitors are welcome and their first two sessions are free. If you would like to play but do not have a partner - visitor or member, please contact the chair or secretary and we will do our best to find you a partner.  Non-members may not play on club competition evenings. Please check the calendar.

Membership is £10 per annum; table money is £2.50 or, for visitors, £3.50 (after first two free sessions). See box below on how to pay.

We do not offer bridge training ourselves but  nearby Welwyn Garden Bridge Club runs an extensive teaching programme from beginner through to intermediate - www.bridgewebs.com/welwyngardencity

Waterford is located on the road to Stevenage, the A119, about 1.5 miles north of  Hertford.  The Village Hall is on the right just as you enter the village coming from Hertford.

A location map can be found by clicking on the side menu 'where and when'. For more information please contact the Secretary, Amanda Barnes on 01992 505688, or Chair, Glen Parry on 07817 644092

Howard Morgan

Very sadly we have to report the death of Howard Morgan on Sunday 18 August. Although Howard did not play bridge during the last few years, he played regularly at New Hertford Bridge Club for several years. He was also a regular on RealBridge during lockdown. Our condolences to Anna and his other family.

No Fear Swiss Pairs

Hertfordshire is supporting EBU's Festival of Bridge by holding a fun event suitable for players of all levels.

The event will be on Sunday, 15th September, starting at 12noon on RealBridge.

The entry fee is £5 which will be donated to Cancer Research UK. This fee will be matched by HBA. So why not enter to enjoy some fun session and support the charity at the same time.

More details can be found at The Hertfordshire Bridge Association, Herts (bridgewebs.com)

TABLE MONEY PAYMENTS

NEW HERTFORD BRIDGE CLUB TABLE MONEY PAYMENTS

Each standard session costs £2.50 for members. Payment must be made in advance of playing in one of the following ways:

Monthly by standing order of £10 (couples £20)

Ad Hoc BACs payments to maintain a credit in your TMA. All payments in minimum amounts of £20 (£40 for couples) only.

By cheque using a paying in book which can be supplied on request.

If your TMA is not in credit by 2pm on the day of the session you risk not being admitted to the game.

The club usually subsidises SIMS (except for visitors)

Accounts will be reconciled annually and any overpayments refunded. Or you can ask for a refund at any time. You can also email Michael to find out how much credit you have, though we would appreciate it if you keep a record yourself to minimise these queries.

Table money for visitors is £3.50. Please contact the chair or secretary in advance.
